Early morning sleeping

Post by Baldy54 » Wed Jan 08, 2020 2:51 pm

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. And wanted to ask a question about using a cpap machine early in the morning.. so I been on my cpap machine for about a year. It been a great thing I ever have done. I have been using it at night and now my job has required me to work overnights. So I do not use the machine until I get home at 630am I go right to bed and use the cpap machine. I usually wake up at 1 in the afternoon I feel refreshed. But when I look on the machine it shows only 1.5 sleep time. Why is it showing this but not the time I have been using it? I don’t want the insurance company to stop paying because I was showing less than 4 hours of use. Thank you for your help with this..

Sounds like you are using a ResMed machine.
ResMed machines start a new recording session at 12 PM or noon per the clock on the machine.
So due to your sleeping past 12 noon your sleep sessions are getting split. In terms of compliance usage for insurance purposes don't worry about it...it's the total number of hours used with a 24 hour period that is needed and it doesn't have to be consecutive...it can be split and added together and still work.
If it bugs you too much you can change the clock on the machine so it starts a new session after you wake up in the afternoon.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. Now I understand. Btw I have a Phillips DreamStation
CPAP with Humidifier.

If you have a DreamStation machine I do believe it still has the separate ramp button on the front or top of the machine like all the other machines. You might not easily see it though.

I suggest you go here and get the clinical/provider manual for your machine and read it thoroughly. I believe it shows the ramp button that you can use in the middle of the night if you want to.

I believe it is just to the right of the main on/off button on the top of the machine. It's a small little button when compared to the main on/off button.

you are correct-

https://incenter.medical.philips.com/do ... 3D11405972

shows it on page 7. or do a control + f to search "ramp".

according to the manual, it's right where you said it was.

how DO you DO that?
