CPAP Sound Level At The Mask

My every night CPAP machine is the DreamStation Auto CPAP. The sound level at the mask while in use is very quiet. I travel for work and have 3-4 hotel nights a month plus additional weekends away from home with my wife. I decided to purchase a DreamStation Go Travel unit (to stay with the same manufacture & software as my every night unit). Both units are now set up the same. I used the travel unit last night for the first time at home just to check it out. I had to take it off and switch back to my every night unit about 3:30 am. The travel unit was SO MUCH louder at the mask then my every night unit I could not sleep. I can’t understand why there is so much of a sound level difference between the 2 units. On my every night unit I also have the attached humidifier (although I never use it). I thought “let me take the humidifier off the unit to see if the is a sound level difference at the mask” AND THERE WAS. I couldn’t believe the sound difference between having the dehumidifier attached to the unit v not attached. Has anyone else come across this issue??

Sometimes it can be hard to fit the humidifier exactly right - hard to see a tiny mis-fitting edge somewhere. Take it off/out again and put it back together and try again... it's amazing how noisy a tiny bit of air can be if 'forced' out of a bad alignment.

Machine noise is a very common complaint with all the tiny travel machines. Been discussed here often.
Several reasons probably but IMHO the tiny machine simply don't have the room for very much sound absorbing material to start with.
You gotta give up something to get tiny and insulation is the first thing to give up.

Search for past discussions about the tiny machines as there are some mention of some DIY remedies to lessen the annoyance and I don't remember exactly what they were.

Julie, I just notice I forgot to mention that I do not have the optional dehumidifier for the travel unit.
