Drowsy

Post by Booboo » Fri Jan 03, 2020 4:46 am

I have just registered. I have been on the CPAP since October 2019. I get on fine with the machine however still dont feel refreshed. I believed I would wake up with so much energy and bounce, but struggle to get going? Is it because I am paying back the Oxygen debt? Feel much like I have permanent headache. Could anyone shed any light on this please.

Welcome! There are a couple of steps for you to take so you can get the advice you're after.

* Fill out your profile with information about your machine and mask. That way it's always visible to other people and they don't have to keep asking for it.

* Check to make sure your machine has an SD card in it. If it doesn't, buy one and insert it.

* Download the Oscar software to your laptop or desktop. You will find it here:

https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

* Import the data from your SD card after a night or two, then post a Daily chart. Please arrange the chart per these instructions:

It may sound like a lot of work, but it will probably go smoothly. Let us know if you hit any bumps, and we will help.
Oscar software is available at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

welcome to the zoo! miss emerita has given an excellent and concise list of things to do. please follow that advice and you'll be miles ahead of the game.

just wanted to add that we are each our own merry individuals. what works for me won't necessarily work for you and vice versa. in our journeys, we can each have different machines and different masks. and this directly impacts the info you are going to receive.

doctors, in general, don't seem to get this. they think they merely prescribe the equipment and their job is done. THEIR job is done but yours is just beginning. so give us the data we need and you'll be on your way.

lastly, to answer your question, we don't all get the benefits of cpap right away. that's another of those individual things. it's likely your therapy isn't optimized. that is, it's likely your machines pressures aren't set right. once that is dialed in, you will likely be on your way.

but you can do this. we are here to help.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

We need more information to be able to offer any decent ideas.

viewtopic/t172378/Sticky--Newbies-PLEAS ... STING.html

How many hours of sleep are you getting on average? Real sleep and not just laying in bed awake?
Are those hours of sleep fragmented by very many awakenings?
Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what?

There is no such thing as oxygen debt so quit worrying about that.

Being able to comfortably use the treatment is a big accomplishment. Now to see if your settings are allowing the machine to do its best job. My first 5 months on CPAP had me feeling terrible as my settings weren't optimal. Once they were tweaked I began to see a turnaround. Hopefully there will be something obvious and you get moving forward. If the machine data says your treatment is optimized, then there's a laundry list of things to check out. The machine can correct our sleep disordered breathing, but it's not uncommon to have other things going on at the same time contributing to our symptoms. For me it was low Vitamin D, medication side effects, and limb movements. Hope you're soon feeling better.
