How do I test to figure out the pressure to use?

Post by CyclonePap » Thu Jan 02, 2020 7:09 pm

I've been prescribed 10.0 pressure . That was 8 years ago and on a different cpap. With this new cpap it seems like the pressure needs to be adjusted a bit. My old one had a test mode where I could select a range (like 8.0 to 15.0) and it would "test" throughout the night for a period of time to try to find the pressure that helped the best. How do I do that with this cpap? (I'm already in the mode where I can adjust anything)

Thanks for any help

it's kinda/sorta the same thing, if you look at it right. there is no specific test feature. what you will do is set your minimum to 7 and your maximum to 20. then you can see the results of that using the free oscar software program. see the link in my sig for the download.

also, see the link in my sig about "newbies". you aren't one, but it will give a good bit of information. it talks of "sleepyhead". just substitute "oscar" for every mention and you'll be right.

what this gets to is, you'll see how your pressure is impacting your therapy. it will create graphs of your nights sleep. post those graphs HERE and the experts will start giving advice on what change are to be made to improve your therapy.

you won't get the machine automatically selecting your best pressure range. the boys and girls advising you supply that.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

If your machine description (AirSense 10 AutoSet) is accurate, you've got a good machine capable of adjusting it's pressure according to your needs.

Get an SD Card if you don't have one, download OSCAR and display some graphs.

We'll want to switch your device from CPAP mode to APAP mode. And then set the pressure range. It sounds like you're on a straight 10 CM pressure so that's a good place to start. I would start at minimum 10cm, Max 20 cm. Then we look at the charts and see where the machine wants to go.

We can then dial in the minimum pressure to flatten the trace.

You have a great new machine, and if you do as Zonker has suggested, you'll be able to get great advice from the experts here about how to tune your settings for maximum health and comfort. Let us know if you hit any bumps with the software; we'd be happy to help.
Oscar software is available at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

Your old one had a 'test' feature because it wasn't a full auto.

Your new one is a full auto.

Start with a pressure of min 10, max 20, then post some screenshots.

OSCAR is the software that we use to print data from our machines.

https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

It installs onto Windows, Mac or Linux. There are some pinned topics that describe how to use it. Many of them actually refer to SleepyHead, think of SleepyHead as the old version of OSCAR.
