Hi guys, I’m new to this and really struggling.
I travel a lot with work and been on cpap on 2 months now.
I have a resmed air sense 10 and based in the UK.
I recently tried to use my cpap and power it with the plugs in the seat and found that it would work on pressure 5 but when the machine would try and use more power I assume as the pressure increases it would just turn the outlet off and the machine. When I unplugged and put back in it would do the same, work for 10 mins and turn off.
This happened on both my outgoing and return flights.
Staff were pretty clueless as you’d expect.
So I’m thinking about getting something to power it.
My questions are:
One can you even carry something like a big battery on a plane.
Two anyone else had this issue?
Three, what do I need if I want to get some kind of battery.
I’ve read like you have to get a specific one, or specific adapter or I don’t know.
And power wise how powerful does it have to be.
Is there a special legit one to use?
I release that’s a lot of questions.
Please help as I’m really suffering and due to go away again in a few days.
Thanks
Marcoco.
British Airways Power issue and general power for cpap

You can carry lithium ion batteries up to a certain size (I think it's around 100wh) Don't know about lead acid batteries, but i'd hate to lug one of those around.
Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

I also travel for business to the uk from the US and i bought a medistom battery for my air mini. They are expensive but worth it to me. I go mine online for under 300 during a recent sale. Many airlines will not allow cpap plugs ins while some do not care.

Freedom battery kits have connectors for different brands of cpap. I have used one for several years, with my travel DevilBiss CPAP, because it was not compatible with my home ResMed cpap.. Happy to know that there is now a 24V power converter for Redmed. www.batterypowersolutions.net
or try Amazon.
In the above link the poster bought 2 batteries and piggy-packed them. I don't know if that is necessary or not, you would have to test it out. You are allowed to bring them in your carry-on, but not checked baggage. Oh, and do not use the Humidifier while on battery, as it will drain very quickly. Go to controls and turn Humidifier Off, but leave the tank attached. Or, there is an attachment to replace the Water Tank, but that is just another thing to carry around.

Hi Marcoco,
I used to fly with BA a lot. And I think I'm still a member of their Executive Club. The thing about the power sockets on BA planes is that they are power limited. The idea is to give most passengers the facility to plug in their laptops, but not to draw any more current than that.
The best fit for your ResMed Airsense machine is the ResMed Power Station II. It's a lithium battery, about the size of a biggish paperback and fully-charged, is good for at least eight to ten hours of machine use. (That's without the humidifier – I assume that you're ok with not using the humidifier on flights, 'cos it's less hassle.)
Being made by ResMed, the Power Station II is the right voltage and comes with the RedMed cable, so it has all the right plugs on it.
You can buy the battery direct from ResMed UK in Abingdon, near Oxford, and it costs £400 (and there is no VAT). If you join their ResMed UK Rewards programme (for which there is no cost), you get 5 per cent off all purchases. And they will keep you up to date with other offers via e-mail.
The telephone number, dialling from within the UK, is: 0800 917 7071.
Normal delivery within the UK is three to five working days. But if you call and tell them you need it quickly, they will over-night it to you.
