I lost 75 lbs but it didn't budge my need for CPAP even a little. Still very severe apnea (worse than yours though I weigh less). However, there have been HUGE benefits from losing the weight, so don't let that discourage you. Also, it is easier to lose weight if your apnea is well treated. Sleep apnea messes with hunger hormones and insulin. Once those are under control weight loss gets a lot easier.

I was VERY sleepy at first. Part of it was the adjustment to CPAP, but the other part I refer to as sleep "hunger". I had such lousy interrupted sleep for decades before treatment, I think my body was craving all the good sleep it could get. It took a few months for that to go away. Some people refer to it as "repaying the sleep debt" but from my reading that's not factual. I think my body just craved that peaceful, fully oxygenated sleep.

I must really have a debt to pay! Haha . The doctor did mention hormones and cortisol changes with my therapy making it easier to lose weight. I definitely have noticed I am less hungry which is great.

I think I missed 2 of the charts but here are my last 2 nights. My ahí is consistently under 2, usually under 1 and most nights 0 apneas and only a little hyponeas.

Am I doing well? I started therapy 12/18 and appear to have my mask fitting well and sleeping almost completely undisturbed during the night.

I would be happy with those results as long as I was sleeping decently and feeling decently.
To be honest...I have been happy with worse results.
Doing good...at least on paper.

how are you sleeping? feeling good upon waking up? brain fog? and so on and so forth.

i'm quite jealous. it took me much longer to get where you are!

I feel more rested than when I first started therapy but not more rested than before therapy. No brain fog or anything. I’d say I’m sleeping okay but as others have said I may not feel “better” for a while if at all. ‍♀️

i've forgotten;how long have you been on therapy?

and yes, it can take some time to get to the benefits.

yeah, i'd think that's a little early for the good feelings. but keep an eye out for it this year. it can be a subtle change. i've never been a morning person. cpap hasn't changed that. i don't get up singing and dancing. but i don't drag my butt around for hours either.

2 weeks!? Are you kidding me? I didn't know what an AHI was my first 6 months probably, let alone my 1st two weeks. It took me that long to stumble out of the gate and finally get on the field to play! I was still yanking the mask off in my sleep and waking up finding disassembled in my hands....I don't think i really began to realize any improvement until i was a few months down the road, and that was pretty much all mental acuity sharpening.

Oh I'm sure the actual improvements were there early on but it takes time to learn how to recognize what they are.

Some people, like my wife, feel better after the first night. Others, like me, take much longer. I did not have a sudden onset of feeling better. For me, it was very gradual. After a month or so, I noticed I could sit and work the crossword puzzle in the newspaper without falling asleep and I could actually sit and watch a movie on the TV without falling asleep. I have used my machine for about four and a half years, and my wife, almost three years. My six month average AHI is less than one. My wife's runs around 3. If we raise her pressure high enough to control more of her events, the number of central events goes up. This is a compromise setting that does the best without going to an ASV. She doesn't have enough centrals for the insurance to authorize the purchase of the ASV. She is happy with her settings and gets enough sleep at night that she can ride in the car without falling asleep within the first five minutes and can sit and watch television without falling asleep. She's happy with her results as they are.

I started sept 2018. It took until about March 2019 before I started to really feel better and I feel like I'm still making progress. I noticed when xmas shopping I had more energy and stamina. My brain, I think is becoming a little less foggy and I can remember stuff better. I wonder how much long term damage I did and how long I've had OSA. I think back now and some of my symptoms started when my kids were still in high school, over 10 years ago.

That’s been my thought too. My husband said Ive always snored (together 12 years) that it just got louder. I’ve also been having memory issues for a while. So I wonder how long I’ve had it.

So i just woke up because my machine beeped. I searched the forum and I can only assume it was a large leak because I didn’t see any alert. But my app said no leaks lol. Guess I’ll check oscar later. My ahí was 0.7 and no apneas. Weird. I was on my side though which I have to be careful with because my mask leaks easier that way. Startled my husband though he woke up asking if I was ok.

all i can think is that your machine got bored with your low ahi and was just trying to mix things up a little.
