Case colors for xPAPs?

Post by Janelle » Wed Mar 09, 2005 2:17 am

I notice one manufacturer, not one of the big three, has their CPAPs in various bright colors. How do those on the forum feel about that. Would you like to see a choice of colors either bright or subdued, like maybe maroon or navy or brown, instead of the standard black or light grey. I guess the color of the cases now all relates to "Medical" equipment color.

I don't know... a CPAP machine isn't supposed to be a decoration or a fashion statement. We have enough trouble getting the RIGHT equipment out of our DMEs, how much worse will it be if we get ourselves lost in the "I want THIS color" debate?

I have nothing against having options, I guess, but the first time I hear of a DME saying "Well, we don't have the Remstar Auto in the light purple, but we DO have this regular CPAP in that color" as an excuse to talk someone into accepting a cheaper machine, we'll know the colors have done a disservice.

I'd rather see them continue to be made in shades of medical gray or white. Getting too concerned over the COLOR of your machine belies the importance of your treatment.

Liam.
(Giving up on the cute signoffs, they seem to piss off too many people.)

Machine colour

I think it would be great if there was some choice! I certainly agree with Liam, however, in that the function of the machine has to be more important than the form of the machine.

I'm going to ask my sister (the artist) to get out her acrylic paints and jazz up the plain grey 420E case.
