OSCAR Question

Post by pikov22 » Tue Dec 10, 2019 3:23 pm

The other night, my wife noriced that I had fallen asleep with my CPAP on but the mask was on the floor.

Is there a way to identify the period with the mask off?

Thanks.

The leak rate will be huge while the mask was off.

Hi pikov22,

Flow will be a sorta flat-but-scrambly, thick black line. Normal flow is either a lot going in, or a lot coming out. When it's just steady blowing, there are no big or significant changes in the direction or amplitude of flow.

Flow rate is just your breathing. There won't be any flow rate show up after you took the mask off.
You may see some BND flagged....that's Breathing Not Detected
You must have the mask on for the machine to detect your breathing and give you flow rate.

Hi, Bugsy,

Did you see my original question? I'd be interested in your answer.

Thanks.

That was my answer to your original question.

Flow rate will stop whenever you took the mask off. It might show a large leak at the same time or it might just throw up its little arms and say "I don't know what the hell to report".

If you can post a detailed report for that night I can maybe point out the time frame where the mask was off.

pikov22,

I noticed that you and I use the same machine, just manufactured in a different location.

Just checking – you do know that the 560 comes with both the 'auto on' and the 'auto off' feature, yes?

You put the mask to your face and keep breathing – the machine starts.

You take the mask away from your face, the machine stops.

These choices can be found in Settings.

My bad. I forgot to update my CPAP to Dreamstation. Sorry.

Do you have the junk version as listed in your profile?

Find the right one here: wiki/index.php/CPAP_models
And select the right one, as indicated there, in your profile.

Hello again, pikov22,

I don't have access to the manual for the Dreamstation series. So I can't give you detail.

But if you don't have access to the manual either, there are people on the 'net who can walk you through the adjustments you can make to your machine. Here's one:
