Resmed AS10 doesn't report RERA's?

Post by tyrinryan » Mon Dec 09, 2019 8:50 am

I borrowed a friend's back up AS10 for a night to see how I was doing and was surprised to see that it didn't report Rera's when its info was loaded onto Oscar----as my loaner (now returned) AS10 did. Is there a setting that needs to be checked off?

The very first AirSense 10 models didn't report RERAs unless it was the for Her AutoSet model.
RERA flagging was later added to all models.

So it's possible this machine model is older and doesn't flag them or it's possible you didn't have any.
There is no setting anywhere that needs to be turned on in the machine's setup menu though.

Two things come to mind:
1) You used your friends machine a single night. Very possible none were flagged.

2) Your friend's AS10 may be an earlier version. I *believe* the earlier versions of the AS 10 did not flag RERAs. Post the firmware version, available in the About, menu option. I'm not sure which version started supporting RERAs, but with the version number we can tell if it is older firmware.

Having said that, I've never found the RERA flagging to be reliable or of much value.

Thanks Pugsy and Dog for your thoughts. The borrowed machine is an AS10 AutoSet For Her, (AS10ASFH) as was the one I got as a loaner.
The Specs are:
model 37035
SW SX567-0306
CX036-034-026-026-102-100-100
I think it is a recent machine and even newer than the loaner AS10ASFH that I had the use of.

I seem to have a lot of FL's, and they are both large and continuous, as reported by Resmed through Oscar. I was counting the frequent Rera's that seemed characteristic of problems: viz-following a large FL; which dropped off precipitously just before the Rera; at least a slightly chaotic breathing Flow Rate; and an obvious upward swing in Tidal Volume after the Rera. If the Rera didn't have these characteristics, I didn't include it in the count.

Dog: why do you say the Rera report in Oscar is not that useful?

The date of manufacture is the second and third number of the serial number....2316xxxxxxxx would be 2016.

Given that it's got fairly recent Firmware and it's a AS10 AS For Her, I think you had a night where no RERAs were flagged.

I never found them useful for me. On nights where I had one or more RERA's flagged I was never able to correlate them to an arousal. And on nights where I have an awakening, I was never able to find any corresponding RERA's flagged.

I've since moved on to an AirCurve 10 VAuto, which doesn't flag RERAs and it's the one thing I don't miss.
