CPAP machine going mad

So, after my earlier problems with the Airsense 10, I am now fully awake at just gone midnight.
The machine went off like a steam train and blew trhe mask off my face from the start despite being set at 13 many weeks ago.
After 17 years, I am sick of this after 17 years being fully compliant.
Is this progress - clearly not.
I need some help and quickly.

If you are dealing with the same problem – one of adjustment – and the same new machine they gave you – and you otherwise have the same general state of physical health as before – it will help if you add posts to the previous thread – the one you started a couple of months ago – rather than start this new thread.

We could then review what's been tried before instead of people, out of the goodness of their hearts, diving in and doing a case analysis to get some facts from you when they're already in that other thread.

I'll let you digest that, while I review what was said last time.

OK, andysnorer, I've re-read the thread from last time. You told us then that the hospital has set your fixed pressure machine at 14 cm, with humidity set at 6.

You also said that the machine they gave you has the cellular 'phone-home' chip in it, and that the staff at the sleep clinic can 'read' how you've been doing. And, if they think fit, they can change your fixed pressure remotely.

Do you have any reason to think that has happened?

Anyway, whether it has or whether it hasn't, there are some who would say: "There's a clear case here for trying this patient out with an auto-adjusting pressure machine. Fixed pressure of 14 is being perceived as intrusive. And more important, is disrupting sleep."

Now, it may be the policy in your area not to issue auto-adjusting machines as standard. But even when that is the general policy in any area, the doctors in charge of your sleep-medicine clinic DO have the power to make exceptions.

But you have to ask. You have to 'make the case' that the present set-up isn't working for you. And you can only do that by going to see them.

Failing that, there's finding the money to buy your own auto-adjusting machine.

You can do this and continue to be an NHS patient – for mask replacement, DVLA cover, and even the loan of a machine in the unlikely event that the machine you own needs mending.

And you may not be aware of this, but you can buy a 'gently-used' machine for a good bit less than the price of a new one. And the sleep clinic might just about accept you using it – particularly if it's of the same brand as wot they have standardised on.

Which in your case, is ResMed.

So call your clinic up. Ask for an appointment. It doesn't matter how well things were going for most of those 17 years. Clearly, something has changed. And clearly, things are not going well now.
