Breathing Humidified air through CPAP

Post by ofra » Sat Nov 30, 2019 5:51 am

I'd love to receive some opinions about the quality of the air that comes through the CPAP when using the humidifier.
After a few months of regular use, from just one try with Humidifier, I felt I was drowning!
Is that a familiar feeling for anyone?
Also, would like to know if the humidified air always Hot?
THANKS in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

Can you please explain the "drowning" feeling in more detail?
Are you experiencing a lot of water in the mask or are you just feeling like you are suffocating and can't get enough air or oxygen?

What brand and model machine are you using? Which mask? What pressure settings? Using the ramp?
Using a heated hose? If so, at what temp?

There is one brand machine that the humidifier is always on if the machine is plugged in but otherwise they won't always be on and thus not warm.
None should feel hot though unless there is no water in the chamber when in use.

The "quality" of the air?? The air that goes through the machine is your filtered room air passing over clean distilled water. I guess it depends on the quality of your room air. If the air is too warm..and you feel like you are drowning, I'm guessing that the humidity is set too high.
