I had some spam show up advertising the "Bongo RX By AirAvant".
I'm thinking $200 for a flap-valved nose-plug is a bit steep. But I don't understand how restricting your exhale would splint your airway when you inhale. And restricting my exhale would (I think) just wake me up angry.
Am I understanding this thing right?

Well shoot... I was too fast on the posting trigger. I just found an older thread about the widget, so disregard.

There is/was some thought that PEEP Positive End Expiratory Pressure helps hold the airway open and in theory might help with OSA.
It's what the Provent thingies work off of.
I didn't really look at the Bongo thing but maybe it works (in theory anyway) by also restricting exhale.
If you read up on Provent therapy as an alternative to cpap therapy....it might work...if the OSA is on the mild side and you could actually stand to use it and just your nose....if you can keep your mouth shut because it is no fun fighting that Provent exhale valve without wanting to cheat and use your mouth.
Lots of ifs... and while maybe better than nothing....certainly comes with its own baggage and when I tried the Provent I couldn't ever get comfortable with the force that is needed to exhale through the damn thing. Lots of work. I could never get to sleep with it.
CPAP is a walk in the park compared to fighting the exhale restricting gadgets...IMHO.
Theravent....Provent under another name with same end goal but they just promote it for snore elimination....legal CYA stuff.

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
Re: Whatsit? Bongo RX By AirAvant
Logically, it cant work, while there may be some PEEP due to the restriction on exhalation, that goes away the instant you start to inhale, plus there is *some* restriction on inhale, not as much as exhaling but more than open nostrils... Which is going to cause more negative pressure in the airway.Pugsy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 2:41 pmThere is/was some thought that PEEP Positive End Expiratory Pressure helps hold the airway open and in theory might help with OSA.
