SleepyHead update?

Post by Conrad » Tue Nov 19, 2019 8:38 am

Hello all, long time no see.

I've been using a cpap/bipap since 2012 and I spent some time on this site in my early use days. Since I haven't had any issues with my use since then I didn't visit here much, if at all.

I just got a new machine since my old one was over 7 years old and my insurance will buy me a new one after 5 years of use.

The old machine is a PR System One RemStar BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex (750P) with humidifier.

My new machine is a Philips Respironics DreamStation DSX700T11C with humidifier.

I've been using, with great success, the original version of SleepyHead from the early days, v0.9.3.

Now my question. I just now tried to import the data from my new machine into the above version of SleepHead, using a new profile of course. It didn't work. SleepHead tells me that it can't find the data on the card. I've gone through all the directories on the card with no luck.

Do I need to update to a newer version of SleepyHead? I now see another option, maybe. OSCAR. Which should I use?

As always, thanks for your help.

There were a few later versions of SleepyHead than what you are using.

Go ahead and get OSCAR though. It's based off SleepyHead and works well with your new machine. It is being supported or worked on in terms of bug fixing and updating as new machines are released. SleepyHead is no longer being worked on.

Sleepyhead is dead, knifed in it's sleep by it's creator during an apparent paranoid episode.

Many of the people that worked on sleepyhead over the years got together to create and develop OSCAR as a superior replacement.

Thanks so much for the posts and advice.

Will OSCAR be able to read the old data from the installation of Sleepyhead that I still have on my PC? I suppose that it will read the data from my old machine's card right? Should I even bother with that old data? I lost at least 5 years of data on the old machine's card when, seemingly, out of the blue my old CPAP decided to reformat the SD card on it's own. I heard it beeping and when I looked at the display it told me that it was reformatting the card. The data that was lost from the card is still on my PC and laptop though. It would be nice to compare the old data to the new but not critical.

OSCAR should ask you if you want to import old SleepyHead data.
