dumb system
government regulations pretty much equals dumb system
More "proof" (at least in the eyes of the FDA) that we need help in managing our own lives and can't be trusted to have any common sense.

Try Lofta.com for masks with no prescription, and Walmart.com for any CPAP stuff with no prescription. Personally I prefer to be in control of my therapy. My doc is good enough, but I don’t like being told what to do lol

Sometimes it also has to do with "Where your getting stuff from" I've had a big mom and pop pharmacy with a large DME section go completely nuts on me and demand I show them a prescription to buy just a replacement filter for my ResMed machine. I started the conversation asking them what sort of masks they even offered and they wouldn't even talk to me with out showing them I had a prescription, then after I found the filter I needed on the sales floor and tryed to buy it, they told me they couldn't sell me the filter with out a script. I left at that point thinking that they're nuts... but your mileage may very.

It's my understanding that you don't need a script to buy parts, or hoses, or filters... ( shifty eyes at that pharmacy ) but you would need one to buy a machine or a complete mask. There ways of getting around some of it... buy mask parts and put one together your self.

You still may run into issues were a given store or establishment doesn't know the rules, and doesn't care to learn them. It's better to have some sort of script with you or that you can send to smooth over any issues with establishments that are going to want one.

Lots of options though have already been mentioned on were you can get good XPAP gear at a discount with out dealing with the red tape.

I wish you luck in your search.

Rest well,
