Please help newbie~

Post by PeLa » Wed Oct 23, 2019 5:36 am

Hello, I would like to thank this community, it helped me alot !!

I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea severe with 44 ahi a month ago.

I have trouble sleeping through the night with the mask, i don't remember why but after 1-2 hours i take it off and when i wake up after i wear it again. When i wear it again most of the time i wake up because when i move to the side it leaks through the nose mostly. It's strange because i practice moving aroung before sleep to see if it leaks and it doesnt. I wear a FF dreamwear small size.
I only slept one through the night once (~ 6 hours) 3 days ago, maybe because i started playing around with the pressure.
I am not in medication at the moment.

Im not sure what else is needed, whatever info you need please ask.

Sincerely thanks !!!

Welcome to the forum.

Tape the straps of your mask down to your cheeks so that you won't be so likely to remove the mask in your sleep.

You gotta keep the mask on longer to have anything to evaluate in terms of data.

Thank you Pugsy~
I will try your advice!

One more question, I don't want to make you lose time but is it possible that the high pressure is making me take it off? What would happen if i lower it for a few days and increase it by 1 the max pressure?

Nearly impossible to know if it is the pressure increasing causing you to remove the mask or the leak or maybe even the apnea event that the increase in pressure is trying to kill.

You could try limiting the max and see if it helps stop the unwanted removal.
If you start seeing a lot of apneas getting flagged when the machine is at the new maximum then you know you need to accelerate the move to increase the max.

Worth trying because at this point you aren't really using the machine enough. I would rather see maybe sub optimal max pressures and see you keep the mask on all night then big blanks with no cpap use because the mask came off. Some therapy is always better than no therapy.

Get yourself keeping the mask on all night and then worry about pressure adjustments.
