Can't even think of a title

Post by kteague » Mon Feb 26, 2007 9:26 am

Against my better judgement, I did read the whole thing. Much of it was the first time I knew how far the exchanges between you, DrB, and NightHawkeye have gone. When I was new here I got caught up in other people's personal issues and found it damaging to my own well being. It gave negativity a weightier place in my life than was healthy. I gave it energy that was more needed to bolster my recovery. For the most part, when I see a thread taking an attack path, I choose to not revisit that thread. I used to read on, thinking I might miss some good nugget within the mess (or was it curiosity...nosiness?), but eventually concluded that if a nugget was meant for me, it could be provided to me elsewhere.

I am not emotionally or physically strong enough to take in this kind animosity and not be affected by it. I am sitting here now crying on my keyboard and wondering why I let myself go there again. I think I must have met my lifetime quota for turmoil prematurely.

I have two children, and both of their fathers were murdered before I was 25. I later married a man who was brutal beyond anything I'd want to describe here. I spent over 3 years examining every harsh word trying to discern if something much worse was to follow. And that's just the highlights. Not to mention I haven't had a GOOD night's sleep since 1983.

Now, I don't expect any one on here to accomodate me and my personal issues. Just don't look for me in the heat of the fray. I may have strong opinions on certain interchanges if I were to read them, but life's too short and my nerves are too raw to take on battles that are not mine to fight.

All I can offer is that I don't think either of you should go away. How you manage to coexist (or even whether to) is for the two of you grown men to figure out. I'll catch up with you on the other side of all this.

Kathy

Kathy, thanks for putting this in perspective. I was wasting energy getting angry with two people trying to see how yellow they could make the snow!

I am fairly new to this chat forum, but I am not new to chat forums in general. That being said I offer the following. I don't care if you two get along. I will not vote in some silly poll to give either side more ammunition to use in a flame war. This forum is designed to aide those with sleeping difficulties, be it hardware, software, emotinal or medical. It does a stellar job of that due entirely to the members getting along and tolerating others.
You two grown men need to go private with this and allow the forum to settle back to what it's designed to do.
Fight all you want in private. Just don't do it on our time.

Amen to the last few posted messages. If you let it get personal, it ruins the thread and everybody's day.

Like the old saying goes, "Get a Room".

I think you have been watching way too many reality television shows to put a poll up like this. From your recent posts, I get the impression you are one of those newbie doctors I see pull up in front of me in a rusted beat up Toyota Corolla at the Costco gas pumps to pump his own gas still wearing his white coat with his stethoscope around his neck

But you know some people are offended by that self imposed authority figure. Don't forget people come here to learn about therapy methods and techniques because like me they couldn't get the answers they needed from their board certified ABSM sleep doctor. My doc has been a doc for at least 100 years (almost as old as Keith Richards) and I know he's pretty smart but he's still a poor listener, otherwise he wouldn't have lost this patient.

I can tell you majored in English, but probably never took many Physc classes, hell I didn't either but probably have a Ph.D in common sense.

When I post here I post like no other posts exist except for the one I'm immediately responding to. If that happens to become opinion and that opinion differs from someone else and they give me grief over it, well they can kiss my behind cause I ain't charging them for it.

Now keep in mind some people are sometimes offended with the title Dr. title or authority figure. There are people here that probably have had the OSA disorder longer than you have been a doctor. They didn't bypass the normal protocol and have their golfing buddy write them a script without obtaining a PSG. I read your Sleeping with the Enemy paper and while it was well written and contained very useful information, it didn't tell me anything I already didn't know. People that come here already know they have the disorder, they come here to learn how they can tolerate it better. Awareness days and bumper stickers don't help me tolerate therapy any better, but I applaud you on getting the word out.

Now I hope I haven't offended you in any way, cause that wasn't my objective here, but if I did, I apologize in advance, when that happens, do what I do, I tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine

Besides, Doctors don't mean much to me, hell I sat down a few months ago and had breakfast with Dr. Jorge A. Lazareff, who was the neurosurgeon who separated those conjoined twins in the news several years ago. A brainy dude he may be, but he was still eating the same lousy eggs as me, same cold toast. Few weeks ago I sat down again with the Dr. that invented the UCLA abutment. Same lousy eggs, same cold toast. That cafeteria can sure ruin a batch of Starbucks that is for sure, they must only wash out those pots every 6 years or so.

Yes, I read the whole thing in this thread and most of the other ones you have listed. I know how fully you and NHE have conversed at least on the forum not in PM's. To offer anything other then what I posted would constitute or could be seen as taking a side. I respect both sides of the fence so to speak and in the interests of keeping both here and conversing on issues freely, good or bad I posted.

I do not give up my right to judge peoples posts for myself nor do I always wish others to fight, but in order to draw from the discourse, the essence of any complex emotional subject matter, one needs both sides. If one side does things in good or bad form I will see it and give it its due. With that being said though I am not going to call it public or in post. Doing so would stifle the discourse or fuel the flames. In the end, it's up to the readers to evaluate both sides in the discourse and judge for themselves what they are.

I see both sides and all I can recommend at this point is for you both to agree to disagree, deal with it and move on. There are no winners or losers here just people trying to help people.

drB

You've had some very good & informative posts. This isn't one of them.

We want to hear both sides of a subject.

Your overly-verbose rant is of no interest to any of us, except (maybe) NHE.

Time to lay off the Provigil.

Are you kidding with this? This is a chat forum, not the UN. Relax! The two of you don't agree, or manage to ruffle each other's feathers on a regular basis? So what! Rather than take it personally, just remind yourself that it is a chat forum.
DreamStalker wrote:No offense doc ... but if your relationship with Nighthawkeye is that important ... perhaps you should try and work it out with him (there is a PM feature to do it privately if you wish) rather than asking what the tribe desires.

I refuse to vote on something like this, but yeah, what DreamStalker and WillSucceed said.
Ironically, this whole poll thing that you've set up here for this feud, is something a TROLL might do....

I can read and form opinions. My opinion re this situation is that it is none of my business.

Hugs to you Kathy. I hope your future is kinder and gentler than your past.

..uh..I don't even read posts that are more than one screen long. So
I have no idea what everyone is talking about here. From my view,
one writes very short, to the point, informative, replys. However,
the other write replys and posts that are way too long for me to read.

Nice try but no cigar!!! You have your Hamlet ass-backwards! It is: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

DrB's Poll: "Is it in the best interest of the board that NHE and drB no longer respond to each other's posts?"

I usually do that also. btw, I've read every word in this thread, in order to get to this point:

It's none of my business what you, or anyone else does, and I have adopted Kathy's approach of not replying to posts that become filled with poison darts. I'm not into pain either.

(and why do you expect us do "dictate"(via your poll) to Nighthawkeye something you are proposing?
This is a "free country" for most things, and this Forum is for ALL MEMBERS.

Do what you will. We can either take it or leave it. If either of the two or three get to quarelling, then..."have a blast!". We're able to know what's going on, and choose to either read it or ignore it. Simple.

I never pick fights with people when they are right...
But then I am about 12 hours post cigarette wanting to quit and I am surprised if I get anything right.

Wife has 2 left. I am not going to put up with her slipping and smoking any more and giving me the excuse to smoke.
And who could ever fight with anyone who looks like Robert Barone.......?
