Inexplicable drop in CPAP pressure

Post by Chalkie » Tue Oct 15, 2019 10:05 am

When I woke this morning I noticed that there was hardly any pressure being delivered through the hose. [Settings are currently 7-18].

I turned the power knob on my machine, which should not make any difference to the pressure, but it caused it to ramp back up.

Physically, I felt very short of breath and had a weak pulse, until I took some ulps of air and my pulse went up again. Symptoms of a bad apnea, basically.

I am wondering if there is something wrong with my machine. I know the pressure is not fixed but it was just so low. I have felt really spaced out and weirdly tired and brain fogged all day.

I have no way of knowing how long it had been blowing so lightly but from how I felt I am guessing it may have been a while. I will swap it for my spare machine tonight as a precaution.

Has anyone heard of machines suddenly seeing such a sudden unexplained drop in pressure?
Machine: Philips Respironics BiPAP C Series.

Does your machine's graphs support the drop in pressure?

Load a few days of data into OSCAR and see if there has been other instances of pressure drops. Continue monitoring how often and how much pressure drops your experiencing.

Might be time for a new machine.

Thamks for the suggestions.

I went into Encore Basic (I had not heard of Oscar but have now downloaded it and will have a go later) and unfortunately for some reason no recent data appeared to be on the card.

Luckily I have an identical spare machine so I have swapped it over to that. I now suspicious of the original machine and don't really want to go through that again if I can avoid it and will take it to the sleep clinic at the next opportunity to have it checked over.
