Question about MyAir readings

Post by Blmkso » Mon Oct 07, 2019 2:17 pm

I’ve been using ResMed 10 for several months now with a nasal mask. My average AHI numbers are around 1.5 -3.0 but leakage is averaging 25-30. It seems like when the AHI is lowest , the leakage is highest. I have tried a full face mask but AHI’s are higher and of course leakage is real low. Is the AHI reading the important one and does anyone know if there is a relation between high leakage and low AHI’s. Thanks for any info.

Leakage is the mask...If you are sleeping well and your AHI is low, I would ignore the leaks. Your machine compensates for most leaks.... No relationship between low leaks and higher AHI. 1.5-3.0 is not significant in my opinion.

MyAir reports what is called a 95% leak number. It is NOT an overall average leak number.
95% numbers just mean where a person was AT or BELOW for 95% of the time. People often don't understand the "or below" part of the definition.

For almost 95% of the night night you were most likely below the 24 L/min red line where large leak territory starts. The relatively short periods of time you might have been above 24 L/min aren't enough to really impact the overall AHI that much.
The machine won't start missing flagging of events until somewhere around 35 L/min excess leak.

As long as the leaks didn't wake me up.....I wouldn't worry about them at this point if this is the worst they get.

95% numbers are easily elevated making things look worse than they really might be. Get the available software and see the detailed report and you will understand what I mean. Example and more details explained in this thread.
