EPR- Does anyone use this setting?
I have my EPR setting on "off" does anyone use this setting? Or should this setting be used ? Personal preference? I am on APAP with pressure 5-20 cmH20. I was originally diagnosed in my sleep study a year ago with an AHI of 66.8 /hr. I now have AHI of 1 per hr or less most days. I know that it could mess with my pressure settings. Good thing or bad?
Re: EPR- Does anyone use this setting?
Personal preference.
Some people use it and love it and others don't care for it.
I happen to love it and have used some form of exhale relief for over 10 years now. Simply feels more like natural breathing to me and that equals comfort for me which equals going to sleep easier and I am all about sleep and doing whatever it takes to get it.
With a starting pressure of 5 cm you don't really get to experience it very much because the lowest your machine can go is 4 cm.
So even if you set it at 3 for a 3 cm drop during exhale you only get the 1 cm drop while awake.
Now later once asleep if the pressure goes up higher then you could get more exhale relief but you will be asleep most likely when it happens.

Some do and some do not. What would you be looking to improve that you think EPR might help with?Auntducky59 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 1:42 pmI have my EPR setting on "off" does anyone use this setting? Re: EPR- Does anyone use this setting?
I think it would definitely help you...if your pressure was running at 8 or 9 you could get exhale relief down to 6 or 7 if you had EPR set at 2. You have nothing to lose by trying it...I have used it forever.

Re: EPR- Does anyone use this setting?
I start off at 4 cm and it ramps up pretty high on occasion with my max setting of 20. I sometimes experience a minor leak and air blowing on me. I have my comfort level set to Soft instead of standard already. That helped with the force of the air. I may find out I don't need EPR, but I will try it tonight and see if my experience is better or just the same.
Re: EPR- Does anyone use this setting?
I used it and loved it for the first 9 months of my therapy. Really believe it was key in in helping me be successful. I was struggling with exhaling against the pressure.
I turned it off when I switched to nasal pillows and my pressure needs dropped dramatically. Found that I just didn't need it anymore.
Given that you've been using your machine without it for a year, it'll be interesting to hear your thoughts should you give it a try

Re: EPR- Does anyone use this setting?
According to my sleep doc, it's matter of personal preference. I don't like it. However, some may love it.
Also, I think that the EPR makes the machine more problematic for anybody you're sharing the room with.

And why do you think that?

There's never been any evidence of that.
No it doesn't, you know nothing about EPR.

Re: EPR- Does anyone use this setting?
When you are breathing through the mask, the increasing amount of air you breathe causes EPR increment. The pressure is constant for any standard CPAP, so the amount of air you breathe is the normal amount that you should be breathing.

You don't have EPR on your machine

Re: EPR- Does anyone use this setting?
There is a change in pitch when exhaling. Rather than a constant while noise, there's a variable noise.

My machine has A-Flex and C-Flex, which are the same thing!

Similar granted it has a similar effect as Resmed EPR but different in the way it works so definitely not the same thing.D.H. wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 7:05 amMy machine has A-Flex and C-Flex, which are the same thing!
