Resmed hypoallergenic filters

I think I’m reading where some of you get the Resmed hypoallergenic filters for Airsense 9 and 10 paid for by Medicare. Is this correct? My DME is awful. First they told me the heated hose/tube was not covered. They were wrong. Thanks for any information.

If at all possible, find a different DME. The DME wants to give you the cheaper regular filters since Medicare pays then the same for either type of filter. You can also find the filters on Amazon and eBay for less than the DME charges for them. I purchase mine on line from cpap.com when they have a sale with free shipping. For low cost items like filters, it just isn't worth the head ache of putting up with a local DME.

The hypoallergenic filters make a big difference for me.
It's almost like I have no allergies.

S9 filters and the AirSense/AirCurve filters are the same.

Insurance pays the same.

Now getting the DME to actually supply the hypoallerginic filter....might be a bit of a chore.
My DME said there wasn't such a thing until I gave him the ResMed product number for the hypo filter to look up.
There are the OEM filters from ResMed and there are after market generic....in both regular and hypoallerginic.
It's real hard to find OEM on the internet. Most of what you find will be aftermarket.

In my past experience I let Medicare buy me one filter. My 20% co pay for one was more than what I paid online per filter when bought in bulk.

I see a lot of options to buy cheaper and in bulk. Any recommendations on what to get or what to stay away from? Looks like most of the options are not OEM which is fine as long as they perform.

I used to get Resmed filters--in sealed labeled Resmed bags.
This DME sells me repackaged fine filters--probably aftermarket.
I cannot tell the difference.

Are you referring to the regular filter or the hypo filter?
Pretty much all the generic regular filters seem to be the same in general quality.
What I found was a difference between OEM and generic was mainly in the hypo filters.
I prefer the hypo filters mainly just because that's what I want. My house is very old and very dusty (out in the country) and I have pets and I just want extra filtration.
So over the years I have bought generic hypo filters as well as name brand. Sometimes there is a marked difference and sometimes very subtle but they all seem to work well and not create a problem. Personally I think there is a wide latitude there in terms of acceptability of function.

Finding ResMed OEM filters online...it's difficult and I know of one place only and I have ordered from them. They also sell aftermarket filters that don't cost as much.
A while back I found some aftermarket hypo filters for my ResMed machine on EBay that are so close to OEM that I really can't tell any difference.

My DME didn't even know about hypo filters until I told them. He was asking why I never bought filters from him and used my insurance and I explained he didn't carry the hypo filters that I preferred. Then he said "what are hypoallergenic filters" and I had to show him the difference.
Even gave him the ResMed part number for the OEM hypo filter but I bet once they saw the cost difference it quietly got set aside.
Up to that part the only ResMed filter they were offering was a single generic regular filter either a Sunset or A/G (both big in the generic cpap stuff market).

Right now I am quite happy with the generic ones I got from an EBay seller that PR pointed me to.
They really are so close to OEM that I can't tell the difference. It is what I prefer just for my own peace of mind but I have used the others and not lost any sleep over it.

With allergies I assume the hypos are best. Between Amazon and Ebay there are lots of choices. Not many revews on Ebay so bit of a crap shoot to know which are good.

Exactly!!! Look close on Amazon and you will find products with many repetative reviews. A couple years ago they were trying to crack down on fake reviews.

They gotta be aftermarket at this price but they so closely match an OEM still in ResMed sealed baggy hypo filter that I am quite happy with them.
12 filters for less than 10 bucks and the price includes free shipping.

I just got my supplies today, and the new guy had put OEM regular filters in my bag.
I knew just by looking and I asked for the hypoallergenic filters,
--- and they trotted out the Resmed packets of fine filters.
They also kicked in a headgear when I bought yet ANOTHER mask.
The collection grows . . .
