Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
I'm an allergy sufferer. Are these filters worth giving a try?

Personally I try to get all the causes out of my air, so yes... Jim

Yes, use it. There are two filters that are standard to be used with the Dreamstation. Your machine should have come with both. The fine filter (light blue) snaps on to the other filter (dark blue) should be replaced every 2 weeks. The darker blue one can be rinsed off and then used again, I think the official schedule for replacing that is once every 6 months, but don't quote me on that.

Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
Mine only came with 1 reusable filter. None of the disposable. Actually same goes for the first cpap I got before getting my current bipap.
Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
When I was using a Respironics machine I always used both filters...the reusable foam and the disposable fine filter.
I don't have a problem with allergies but seeing how yucky looking the fine filter got despite being behind the foam filter was enough to make me want to do some extra filtering of the air.

Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
So is my DME keeping the filters that come with machines to sell retail?

Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
I never tried the machine without it. It's just good practice.
Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
Dunno. I don't know how the machines are being shipped now in terms of filters but years ago they came with both filters.

I've seen a few posts about putting an in-line anti-bacteria filter on their hose that greatly reduces pollen and other allergens.

I saw those inline filters. I have to wonder how much filtering is too much and when it starts to impact machine performance or cause whistling. Which was one reason for asking about using the extra disposable filter.
Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
My ResMed machine has a setting option in the set up menu to compensate for inline antibacterial filters.
Don't know about other brands.

I'm using these in my Dreamstation Auto and happy with them. The fine filter in this set doesn't whine like the other's i've had. I used for a long time without the fine filter because of this reason but now no longer an issue.

Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
Thanks. I order a set of OEM brand off ebay. Hopefully they don't whine. If so I will try those.
Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
I didn't get any extra filters with mine, just what came with the machine. I suppose anything's possible for a DME but it would be weird for them to take one filter off. In fact, they should have pointed out where the filter was and how to change it. Mine did. They only cost a few dollars on Amazon for a pkg of 6, not expensive. Buying a fine filter thru a DME costs me $0.14 with insurance.

Re: Dreamstation Ultra Fine Filter
I received my new Dreamstation Auto from a local DME it came with nothing not even the cheapy hose. I called and complained, moved onto a online DME who fixed me up with everything and then some. Heated hose & extra filters - both kinds - along with the a new mask that the local DME was suppose to supply. (If you live in Tampa Bay area PM me and I'll let you know who to stay away from.)
I was told the Dreamastation should come with both filters, water tank (if you have the humidifier) and standard hose in the zipper bag with power block. I did receive the bag & power block.
