Cyclobenzaprine study

Post by linagee » Sun Sep 01, 2019 9:08 pm

Doc gave me cyclobenzaprine for a whiplash / pain in back problem. (This is the first time I've ever been prescribed this.) I found it to be helping a lot with insomnia (keeping me asleep the following morning) and frankly I feel great taking it in the night and getting a lot more rest that night. (This is with 10mg and I do feel a bit groggy the following day, but more rested.) I've only taken it once in the past week, but I definitely felt different the following morning. I'll try 5mg and see if it decreases the next-day tiredness. (edit: today I don't feel groggy!)

Then, I did some searching for research papers and found this, wow.

Now I am wondering how to compute my CAP (A2+A3). We'll see! (edit: aha! https://github.com/EvangeliaMylonidou/CAP)
Wikipedia on "Cyclic Alternating Pattern": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclic_al ... ng_pattern
https://physionet.org/content/capslpdb/1.0.0/

(I don't have FM. That I know of... But according to the paper, your CAP (A2+A3) can be out of normal range even without FM.)

Also: why aren't doctors doing CAP (A2+A3) tests if they already have EEG data? I guess it's the "because you asked them to fix the muffler on your car and not the loose oil pan", but.... if your request was general like "please help me improve my sleep"....? Do I need a better sleep doctor? Does PSG analysis software need to improve? (Embla is the only one I've heard of that does CAP scoring? But apparently the hardware from Embla is terrible and can shock you.)

Thanks so much for this information! I’m going to follow up with my doctor.
