I have always been strictly a side sleeper, but had to sleep exclusively on my back
for around 3 months after my mastectomy to assure symmetry of my reconstruction.
Luckily, cpap controlled my apnea so I could do so.
Once in a while, I find myself on my back, but am comfortable nonetheless.
