Bipap Recommendation

Post by Olivia » Sat Aug 24, 2019 12:40 am

I am in need of a new bipap as my old one has died and I am currently using a loaner. I have good insurance and my doctor has ordered a "Bipap" not specifying a particular brand or model. My DME provider say they will authorize a Dream Station. From what I have read I think an auto would be a good choice for me. Also the Aircurve 10 Auto BiLevel looks good to me. What should I ask for ? My DME is Nationwide Medical mail-order but I am directed to a local company. They could not tell me what model I am to pick up. Previously years ago the MD ordered a more expensive brand and model and they substituted a cheaper model, but I was too naive to know the difference. I do use Sleepyhead so would want one compatible. Thanks so much

If you were currently using a Resmed then stick with that. The same goes for a Respironics. It has to be Auto! If you don't get auto then refuse to accept it.

Your DME doesn't "authorize" anything, that's up to the doctor.

Your DME will try to stiff you with the respironics because it doesn't work as well (I don't know why Holden4th said to stick with it... he dumped that for a Resmed Air10 Vauto.)

You should hold out for a Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto... accept nothing less.
