OT: Increasing deep sleep when not feeling well?

Post by USMCVet » Sat Aug 17, 2019 3:14 pm

It's been a rough week and yesterday I found out I have diverticulitis. I have been having trouble sleeping and my fit bit shows I'm barely getting any REM or Deep sleep, it's mostly light sleep. I'm exhausted and wondering if there is anything I can do?

Most men after 40 years of age have diverticulitis, Don't be Male, don.t age, watch your diet, avoid foods that inflame it. Nuts are

Yes I'm under 40 lol my Dr wasn't so convinced about the nuts thing and if you read up on it they aren't actually sure what causes it and how to avoid it.
I just want to sleep better at the moment 😴

I never found it to be a problem, my other problems always overshadowed it! Colds and alergies are much more serious, I still eat what I want. Jim

See Food, I sea it I eat it!

i'm sorry to hear this. my wife is border line diverticulitis though i can't remember what that's called. we are watching her diet to make sure it doesn't push over the edge.

wish i had some advice for you but know next to nothing about it.

Diverticulosis I think is what your thinking of. Basically small sacs on intestines that can become inflamed and infected. Thought to be at weak spots and can perforate or have other complications. They aren't sure exactly what causes it or causes it to become infected. They suggest not eating seeds or nuts and eating lots of fiber. I believe they think nuts and seeds could become lodged in the pockets and the fiber is so that your regular and reduce pressure inside intestines.

ah,yes, it comes back to me now. and what you said makes me realize why i'm not so worried about it. i can try to get seeds and nuts into her (she's a stubborn one, she is!) but no worries on the high protein diet. she's been all of that and more for going on 40 years. this is why i *think* it only showed up recently. in fact, it was just last year.
