Hi All,
I am a new cpap user and i am having severe headaches almost throughout the day after using the CPAP machine. I tried reducing the pressure (minimum 4 and max 10) , using humidifier but nothing helps. Please advise.
THanks,
Headaches after using the CPAP
Re: Headaches after using the CPAP
I hope you plan on seeing your doctor. Reducing CPAP pressure is not always the answer.

Re: Headaches after using the CPAP
That's no fun. Please give us more information so we can be more targeted in any suggestions. At the top of the main page is info for newbies. Take particular note of how to get your data. Flying blind makes me uncomfortable. Did you check to make sure you are not having lots of or bad events before lowering your pressure? Hope needing more pressure wasn't the way you needed to go. Please describe your headaches in more detail, as in location and type of pain. Without your details I can only throw out some general stuff for you to consider and rule out some things for starters. Good luck figuring things out.
- Too tight of mask straps across lower skull/upper neck
- Mask pressure on sinuses when using a full face or nasal mask
- Humidity levels not dialed in causing sinus pain
- Blocked vent holes causing one to rebreathe exhaled air
- Central apneas caused by sensitivity to air pressure
- Nerve pain from straps in persons with trigeminal neuralgia
- inadequate pressure settings resulting in residual events
- any number of unrelated issues to be assessed by your doctor

To the OP:
We definitely need more detail to tell you anything meaningful. Somebody suggested several possibilities, all of which are possible causes. However, she was flying blind since there's not much information. The pressure could be too high or too low, so you can't assume anything.
