Data Not Recording Accurately - ResMed 10 Air Sense Autoset

Post by katem » Sun Jul 28, 2019 2:39 pm

Hi, I have been a CPAP user just a few weeks and am adjusting well, I think. I keep the mask on most of the night, with a few interruptions for bathroom use. However, even if I use the machine from 11:00 pm to 3:30 or 4:00 am, I get a report that shows I used it 1 or 2 hours or so. It also reports I take off the mask up to 10 times! I am also still having many "events", 40 or more per hour. I already replaced the machine thinking it was incorrectly set up, but the brand new one shows the same. The respiratory specialist told me he was beginning to "doubt my honesty" in my stated usage. I can't seem to fix this on my own and the equipment vendor says the machine is accurate. Anyone else with this issue? I hate to give up!

welcome to the zoo! as palerider suggested, please post some oscar screenshots. oscar is software that runs on either windows or mac. once you post some data here, the experts will be able to get to the bottom of this.

please see the links in my sig to get you started.

don't give up. you now have quite an impressive team of cpap users who can help you on your journey.

good luck!!

Thanks, my machine did not come with an SD card, so I got one and have inserted it for tonight. Will check again tomorrow...let's hope this can be settled!

I assume you are looking at the MyAir report which shows how often you remove your mask. If you have major leaks, it will report that you removed your mask.

Where are you seeing that report?
Is it on the machine's LCD screen or are you talking about the MyAir online report you can get?

Let's see what the SD data report shows. Since you are starting and stopping the therapy during the night (like for the bathroom breaks) then it is possible that if you are just looking at the report on the machine's LCD screen that you are only seeing the last session hours of use and not the entire night. That might explain things.
AHI of 40....that's horrible... sometimes is not setup correctly for that to happen.
As far as multiple bathroom breaks...do you have to pee a lot during the day also?
Are you male or female? If male are you of an age where the prostate can be a cause in the nocturia?

Welcome to the forum!

Yeah, your CPAP therapy needs a good workover. The good news is that it may be fairly simple to get you where you need to be.

When you post some OSCAR charts, stick to this thread so members can easily follow your history.

It might also help turning off smart start if you leaks are confusing the machine enough that you have removed your mask then it won’t turn off

Thanks all, it turns out I was using the nasal pillows wrong (upside down). I feel like a moron. Now I'm getting good RESMED scores in the 90's with little to no apnea. Feeling great. Still working on leakage and fitting the mask but all is so much better!

i assume that's your mask too?

btw, when you get the chance, would you fill in your equipment, please. thank you.
