Need to replace 10yo CPAP

Post by Calicoskies » Fri Jul 26, 2019 6:57 pm

I currently have 10yo Respironics RESmed Auto A-flex M-series. I have not been sleeping as well for about a year. I think the machine needs replacing. My sleep study is 14yo. Should I get a new sleep study? I have annual physical in Oct. if I choose to replace my machine what model would be similar? I have had 9 good years with current CPAP.

Respironics Resmed.
Good one.

Please clarify--your description melds TWO entirely different companies.
The FTC would not be amused.

Probably meant Respironics Remstar (instead of ResMed) Auto AFlex M series machine.

The current Respironics model that is the equivalent to the M Series Auto CPAP would be the Phillips Respironics DreamStation Auto CPAP.

Since a specific model (now discontinued) was mentioned, I think that the name Respironics, does not belong in the posting. It is the competitor's name!

Time for him to crawl back into his wastebasket and do another lap! Maybe overdue for a trip to Asia, for another treatment. Jim

If it were me...

I would replace the machine with one that is fully data compatible, download the software, and evaluate what is going on during your sleep. You can get a lot of helpful suggestions on how to optimize your sleep from reviewing your data.

If you still feel like crap after that, consider a sleep study.

I recommend getting an automatic. I don't believe that there are any recent model automatics that are not data capable. I suggest that you make sure that any machine you buy is compatible with OSCAR (formerly SleepyHead).

ResMed's AirStart 10 Auto CPAP is an auto adjusting pressure capable machine that isn't data capable.
When you see "compliance data" mentioned and no mention of anything else...it means hours of use only data.

Probably not every model in the world but covers the most commonly used ones by most members of the forum.

Some Travel Auto XPAPs don't have full data, based on Cpap.com's Compare List. Maybe Assuming, and Not Believing, aren't as reliable as facts. Jim
