If there was a cent symbol on the keyboard I would of used it, so I used the word. I didn't realize we were picking the fly poop out of the pepper.
That would actually be incorrect as well.
Not trying to be anal. I didn't start it, but figured I would help in explaining it as it canbe confusing. Use dollars ($0.80) or cents (80 cents or 80¢).
The problem is when you try to mix two different units. As soon as you add that decimal, you have to use dollar units, not cents.
Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Come on, no one thought he was saying he bought a gallon of distilled water for 8 cents.
Really? We all make tiny mistakes from time to time.
Watch this:
I just made a mystake.
With out spell check you guys would be on me constantly. (well on slow days anyway)

This conversation is almost identical to a Verizon problem.
Verizon had intended on billing a data roaming charge of $0.002 per Kilobyte but actually advertised a cost of .002¢.
An individual took advantage of the misprint used 35,893 kB. Verizon charged him $71.79 dollars when it should have been $0.72 or 72¢.
He recorded the conversation of him trying to convince the Verizon representatives that .002¢ is very different than $.002.

So you are saying if Squid was in Canada he would be right?
But in the U.S. Squid is wrong?

If I had $1.80 that would be one dollar and eighty cents or .80 would be eighty cents.
Yes, but what you said, and what dingbat was making fun of, was that it cost you 0.80
cents which is eight tenths of a penny, vs 0.80 dollars, which any reasonable person would know was what you actually meant.
Get OSCAR

I knew what he meant from the get'n go. I think everyone here probably knew it also but just had to become a member of the grammar posse police and pile on in their effort to help "educate".
Geez...if I had known it would become such a frigging big deal as to cause all this hooplah and fly crap picking....I would have changed it when I first saw it.
He made a little grammar boo boo...big frigging deal. There's not one person here who hasn't done something similar at one time or another. Get a life folks....or hopefully lets have a busier day on the forum so people have more important things to dwell on.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

We lived on a ranch in the Nebraska Sandhills.
The water source was an artesian well in front of the house.
The well was 100 feet deep but the water only rose to 4 feet above grade--(no showers).
The water was so soft that one could wash with cold water, and get immediate lather.
My mother used an atomizer with salt.

I use water from reverse osmosis, so far everything looks ok.
