CPAP Hair

Post by Chkiaar » Thu Jul 11, 2019 8:17 am

I use the Dreamwear headgear and love it, but I do have a problem, CPAP hair.
I've got a strap line through my hair.
Has anyone else encountered this and what did you do?

being an old man, i don't worry about it. however, it's a topic that's been discussed before. my search skills are weak, so all in all, i can't be much help.

chunkyfrog and/or others will be along with sound advice..

good luck!

I wore a Buff under the headgear for years. It's tube-shaped, and you can wear it many ways. For this purpose, just place your head in the tube and let the other end flop down your nape. https://buffusa.com/shop-buff/women/mul ... amily.html

I love my dreamwear mask.

I wear my hair in a topknot and it helps to stabilize the top hose connection and keeps the straps from slipping and also eliminates any strap marks.

...of course not everyone can get their hair in a topknot, but if you can it really makes the dreamwear even more amazing of a choice.
Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.

I usually shower and wash my hair every morning, so nobody but me sees it. But if I don't shower in the morning for whatever reason, I wet my hair and comb it out. I have short hair, so that helps.

I used the Dreamwear until earlier this week and I had the bad hair too. The whole deal wouldn't stay in place though so I went to a Dreamwisp, which has even more straps plus I use a chin strap. I stll have CPAP hair, but my hair is short and dries quickly after a shampoo.

I've learned to live with my hair being smashed to the back of my head from CPAP, it's only in the back so "whatever." What I HATE are the permanent strap marks on my cheeks. I have heard about the Bleep but am mouth breather even when awake, so that's not an option for me.
