Greetings, one and all! This is my first post.
I was diagnosed with sleep apnea back in March.
My CPAP is great but no matter how the sleep clinic adjusts the pressure I still have respiratory alkalosis, confirmed by blood gas tests. I can't get hold of an EERS device here in South Africa and I tried a clinic in the US but they won't supply me with one, even if I go over there in person with a prescription from my sleep clinic!
So I guess the next step is to get a mouthpiece for the alternate nights I don't use the CPAP (can't use two nights running - get much too shaky and tingly, which sounds like nothing but is actually a real handicap).
I have only mild sleep apnea - I guess this would be a good solution?

Re: Best solution for respiratory alkalosis?
Have your doctors told you what the underlying cause is in your case?
The most common causes are:
Welcome!atrial flutter
panic disorder
liver disease
pneumothorax, which occurs when air in the pleural cavity causes a collapsed lung
pulmonary embolism
overdose of salicylate medications, such as aspirin
use of a ventilator which is set to cause too many breaths

You could try making your own, by taking a Respironics Dreamwear mask, and blocking the lower vent hole, and only using the upper vent hole, that will add a bit of extra dead space, and increase CO2 in the blood.LaylaRose wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 3:13 amGreetings, one and all! Do you have EPR / Flex turned off?
What machine are you using? If you can post your sleepyhead/oscar results that may be helpful.
