FlexFit 432 Full Face Mask and Lower AHI's?

Post by jrfoster » Wed Feb 21, 2007 4:18 pm

I know that some on this forum have found that when they use the 431 FF mask that their AHI goes up double or triple!

I really like the way the mask fits me and allows me to sleep more comfortably during the night. The only problem is that my AHI goes from about 2.3 up to 7 or 9 and obstructive apneas increase from 7 up to 30!
At a pressure of 11cm.

Do any other 431 users find that to be true? I don't sleep with my mouth open and could (and have used a nasal mask) but the 431 just feels good to me.

What are some of your findings?

I have one, but don't have software with my cpap. However, as comfortable as it is (most comfortable ff mask I've ever used), mine still seems to leak. I'm about ready to give up on it.

I guess I hit the wrong key, but the mask in question is the 431 FF mask, not the newer 432 with the foam insert.

Must be sleep deprivation getting to me!

Jeff,
The thing I like best about the 431 is that the chin support tends to resist my tendency to mouth breath. I found this mask to be far superior to the UMFF, that tended to push my lower jaw down, forcing my mouth open.

Apparently my facial architecture is such that the forehead cushion really leaves marks that last 6 hours or more, and the sides of the hard shell cut into my cheeks. I solved that latter problem by performing surgery ... on the mask , not my face.

As soon as my septoplasty recovery is complete, I plan to go back to a hybrid, so far I really like that one.

As to increases in AHI with the 431, that's not been my experience.

Cheers,
