New BiPAP machine.

Post by stevej1234 » Tue Jun 25, 2019 10:21 am

I got a second machine for another place where I sleep . I normally used a AutoPAP machine set to approximately 7-13 cmh2o because my prescribed CPAP pressure is 12.

I though this time I want to try BIPAP and got a Respironics Dreamstation AutoBIPAP. This machine apparently only three modes : Fixed CPAP, Fixed BiPAP and Auto BIPAP.

Can a BIPAP be configured similarly to AutoPAP or do I need a new sleep study to get the right numbers?

Pick a machine, I'd start with the APAP.

Post some charts, have the experts optimize your settings. Then when you're dialed-in with optimal settings. Switch over to the BiLevel, and then repeat.

Then whatever machine you're getting better results with, keep at the place you sleep more often at.

It can be figured identically. Select APAP mode and choose the same settings you currently use. Do you know how to get into the clinical menu to change the pressure settings?

Which model machine are you currently using?

Auto Bipap will give you functionality of apap with a range of pressures if you choose PS minimum and max of 0.0.
So if you wanted to mimic current apap settings...(you didn't mention any exhale relief or use of Flex)
Auto Bilevel mode
Minimum EPAP 7
PS minimum 0 and PS maximum of 0
Maximum IPAP 13
It will function like your APAP. You can add in BiFlex exhale relief if you wish.
