Oxygen and the ResMed Airsense 10
Oxygen and the ResMed Airsense 10
For folks using oxygen with the Airsense 10, I'm curious if you have recommendations for what parts to use, and opinions of the Resmed ClimateLineAir Oxy? I'm going to be traveling to high elevation and adding oxygen to my CPAP to avoid altitude sickness. So far I haven't convinced my insurance to cover it so I'm on my own figuring it out. The place I'm staying has an oxygen concentrator,I just need to figure out how to connect it to my machine. The reviews on Amazon about the ClimateLineAir Oxy breaking easily when you connect and disconnect oxygen make me wonder if it's really suitable for travel. Maybe an inline adapter would be better?

The Best O2 inline adaptor, will have a check valve built into it that vents the O2 flow from the hose and block it from going in the XPAP! 99% of the crap sold DON'T have this Safety Feature built in. So if you get cheap make sure the XPAP is running before the O2 pump. Jim

Is there a specific one you can recommend? Most I see listed don’t say anything about that.

Mine came from Lincare over 12 years ago, they don't use it anymore, they cheap went also... Now they cover their _SS by giving you a paper telling you to turn the XPAP on first (To keep the O2 out) ! I don't know where to buy one, if there is a place, maybe the U.S.A. has forgot how to make them... The Cheap ones will work if you use them correctly, just don't keep your XPAP hooked up with the O2 unit on. Jim
The reason you don't see anything listed about the safest way to bleed O2 into the XPAP circuit is a 50 cent piece of plastic, (I know the cost est is probable way high), selling for $20.00 has a pretty high profit margin, they could make it correctly for less than $5.00, but them selling the product for over $300.00 might cut down on the market.

In the old days the O2 Ports were in the masks, cost zero $$$!

This is similar to what I use on my system. The larger end slips over the outlet of the Dreamstation humidifier. The other end my mask hose fits over. The small nipple, the O2 hose connects to. The cover will close the nipple if you don't hook up the oxygen. It does not have a valve.
