Humidifier and pressure
I have a Resmed S6 cpap with the pressure set at 11 and a ResMed HumidAire Heated Humidifier. I don't know if it's my imagination, but it seems like there is less pressure when the humidifier is hooked up to the cpap than when the hose is connected directly to the cpap. I was doing okay for a while, and the past few nights have been waking up I think snoring or something with the mask on and feeling very tired all day. Would it be possible that in lowers the pressure?
Could be you have a leak between the unit and the humidifier. Have seen pics of the unit not sure how it connects, but I would think that if it were leaking you would be able to feel it leaking...
Thanks - I've checked for leaks, but don't think there are any. It hooks by a short hose from the cpap to the humidifier, and the longer hose that connects to the mask hooks to the humidifier instead of the cpap. The air has a longer way to travel from the cpap through the humidifier, but I don't know if that would affect the pressure or not. I never was very good at science.
Thanks, it's hard to tell whether there is a difference or not. I find the mask is somewhat noisier when it's connected straight to the cpap for some reason. Maybe the moist air makes a difference in the noise level, I don't know. I guess I'll ask the doctor next visit and hope he doesn't say go for another titration.
You could turn the machine on......then unhook the mask......place your hand over the hose (blocking the air from coming out) then listen for any leaks. If there is a leak....you should be able to hear it. (just a few seconds !!! wouldn't want to burn up the motor..ouch !

Re: Humidifier and pressure
I had the same problem I am not sure but after hearing your problem I think that may be my problem that the pressure drops a little with the humidifier.ElaineP wrote:I have a Resmed S6 cpap with the pressure set at 11 and a ResMed HumidAire Heated Humidifier.
