ISs it OK to use Purell type sanitizer on p10 or p30i?
Can I use an alcohol based sanitizer on the pillows followed by a warm tap water rinse?

Manufacturer recommends soap and water. I wouldn't use anything with alcohol.

I use fragrant free, alcohol free baby wipes on my p10s.
Another member recommends Purell on a Kleenex. Alcohol doesn't react with silicone.

If you do a search, you will find other threads on this forum discussing the use of alcohol wipes on masks.
The consensus seems to be that despite the manufacturers advice NOT to do this, no one has reported any adverse effects.
I have used an alcohol pad on my Airtouch F20 a couple of times since you cannot immerse that mask in water due to the memory foam.
It did not create any problems.
I'm thinking that Purell may be a bit messy, since it's not pure alcohol. It may not hurt the mask, but it's kind of a gooey mess for the task at hand.
In reading the forum here, most users wash those masks in water with a mild detergent like Dawn dish soap, or Johnson's Baby Shampoo.
For the Airfit mask, I use water with baby shampoo, which I also use on my hose and humidifier tub.
I do that once a week, using scent free baby wipes for wiping the mask down daily. I've only used the alcohol pads a couple of times. I'm sure they do a fine job on germs, but it's really not necessary for daily cleaning, and since the size is very small Iv'e decided that the baby wipes are probably my best bet for daily use.
I have also used the CPAP wipes, but one of the great things I learned on this forum is that you can buy baby wipes MUCH cheaper than the dedicated CPAP wipes, and they do just as good a job.

I've used every possible type soap and alcohol wipes on my P10- whatever is handy or available. No adverse effects I've noticed. I think it's more important that it is clean, and not so important what you clean it with. Of course, you want to remember to rinse well and that you may be inhaling some of the soap residue. I mostly use Dawn dish soap and baby wipes. But I've even used hotel shampoo in a pinch. I've even rinsed it in mouthwash- the bottle said it kills germs.
. Just avoid anything with moisturizer or oils in it. I have used Purell and it was fine.

The problem with cleaning my p10's with baby wipes (or Purell) is; now I have to replace my nasal pillows every 6 months or so, instead of the 2 weeks that ResMed recommends.

There is no reason to 'sanitize' the pillows, and certainly not when you're going to just wash them in water.RobertS975 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2019 6:06 amCan I use an alcohol based sanitizer on the pillows followed by a warm tap water rinse?
Now, if you're going to just use the Purell to *clean* the cushion/pillow, (it does a great job removing facial oils), then that's fine, there's no harm, the alcohol isn't going to bother the silicone.
I've been cleaning my cushions and then pillows with a squirt of purell on a tissue for almost as long as I've been on cpap (nearly 10 years), and my first cushion lasted five years, till I changed mask types.

Well, you know that 2 weeks is recommended because that's the minimum time between when most insurance will pay for another one...Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2019 8:49 amThe problem with cleaning my p10's with baby wipes (or Purell) is; now I have to replace my nasal pillows every 6 months or so, instead of the 2 weeks that ResMed recommends.
I'll bet you all the money I have that if medicare changed their minimum replacement time to 1 week, then magically all DMEs would say "OH YOU GOTTA BUY ANOTHER PILLOW EVERY WEEK" the next day...

Alcohol is a great grease-cutter, leaving a squeaky-clean mask.
Gel sanitizers leave a sticky residue.
