AirCurve 10 VAuto & General Questions

Post by gmsmith » Thu Jun 20, 2019 9:55 am

Hi all,

A few years ago I had an updated sleep study and the doctor moved me from an S9 to an AirCurve 10 VAuto. I struggled with the sleep doctor - he wouldn't listen to me when I provided feedback or asked specific questions and I fell off the wagon and gave up using the BiPAP. Well, fast forward to now, I found an amazing sleep doc and I am getting back into using the machine. I still have my AirCurve and it has a very low number of hours (under 100) on it. I assume there would be no issues in just dusting it off, replacing the consumables, updating the pressures and jumping back in?

It seems the AirCurve reports usage back to MyAir, which I am fine with, the question I have is does the original DME have access to this information? If so, how do I move it over to the new DME I am working with (or at the very least stop the old DME from seeing my data)?

Any other tips/encouragement for getting back into using the machine would be appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

The New DME should be able to contact Resmed with the Serial Number of your existing machine and link it to their provider account.

They may want to sell you a new machine so they make more money out of you tho

Unless you have really good insurance, why do you need a DME. You already have a machine. IMO My Air Reports are nothing but a report card. You get better information on your machine Sleep Report.

I don't inherently have an issue with a new machine and the insurance is pretty great, I think the whole thing would cost less than $200 bucks. I could also then donate this existing machine to someone who needs it but may not actually be able to afford it (especially if they don't have insurance).

But if they can move the serial number with Resmed, that would work too.

I do have really good insurance and there is a bit of value in the "it takes a village approach" to ensure supplies, etc.

So would you recommend in conjunction with the MyAir, using a tool to read the data from the SD card?

I'm not sure what you believe the issue to be... maybe an understanding of what the process is would help.

Air10 machine sends data to the Resmed servers... Resmed uses all the data sent by all the patients (presumably) to make better machines.

Doctors, DMEs and patients get an account on the resmed servers (myair, airview, and another web app whose name escapes me at the moment)... they put in a serial number, and pull data from the servers for that serial number.

If you've fired the old DME, why would they even care what your data says?

If you can get another machine for 200$, then get it, and keep the original one, everyone should have a spare of *everything*, including the machine... for when one breaks on a friday evening.

Appreciate the clarification on the process. I'm just not a fan of the old DME having access to the data, so was just looking to understand how we prevent that from happening. Good point about the spare machine (and as I think about it, having one in my "go" bag would make it easier rather then packing up each time I need to travel. Appreciate the help and response.

I suggest you forget My Air and use your machine's sleep report..You will get the days usage, events per hour, mask seal, and humidity...Also ...Month/week days used, average usage, AHI, Total AI, Central AI. As long as your machine is set properly all this info is available to you on the screen

Short of going into their business and deleting all reference to your serial number, i don't think there's anything you can do.

There's probably some form you can fill out to tell them, legally, that you no longer consent to their accessing your sleep data, but other than that, there's really nothing you can do, (as far as I know).
