bjhunt01 therapy help thread
Re: bjhunt01 therapy help thread
Made changes last night. I have never felt so bad - tired, depressed, and on the verge of tears. The SnoreLab was making really strange sounds - high pitched. Once I get some coffee I'll go check my tubes and machine for some kind of leak. But I fear that sound was me somehow. Turned machine off at 10:15 and fell back asleep for two more hours again without mask. Starting a pattern of that.
Put pressures to 8 and 11 and turned on EPR to 2.

Ok you gang of nutty people: You all are better than Comedy Central![]()
First of all thank you for telling me Pugsy takes a break. I noticed her absence and was concerned and about to ask. And I'm happy to hear you Pugsy are having a visit from your Grandson. I have 2 and I think they are so much fun.
So here is what I did last night and I'm so bummed about this ugly graph, especially since I thought the one the night before was a work of art and a thing of beauty:
I raised my minimum from 6.8 to 7
I raised my maximum from 10.2 to 10.4
Stayed with For Her for now
Well taped, no cervical collar because I did so well without one the night before, put my winter cap back on to keep Scuncis in place.
I got an ugly graph. Except for the centrals at the going to sleep beginning, being awake from 2:30 to about 4 (so that's why the Centrals and other uglies) and getting up to use the restroom at 9,
all the obstructives, hypopneas, RERA's, and a central occurred between 10.32 to 10.38. A few RERA's in the beginning were at 10.4.
A little leaking. A little aerophagia.
I was hoping to feel so good by going to bed a few hours earlier than usual. Just before midnight. But then I was awake in the middle of the night for 1.5 hours.
I am incredibly tired. Have been all week, lacking my usual energy. So tired that I went back to sleep for 2 more hours without the mask after I turned the machine off at 11:19 a.m. Woke up about 1:15 p.m. I'm still really tired. My brain feels yukky. While I was asleep it seems like I was dead asleep. I don't recall wakeups. I feel like I could sleep for 2 more hours.
Go back to 10.2? Stay with new pressures and press on? Throw mask, machine at wall and sleep in an upright recliner the rest of my life?

How was the aerophagia last night? Important to keep us updated on that.
How did you arrive at the setting of 2 for EPR? It's a comfort setting, so what you should do is lay down sometime today and try all 3 settings for 10-20 minutes. Whichever feels the best, use that setting tonight. Big YMMV here, when I used epr, 3 was wonderful and 2 is associated with aerophagia in my mind.
There are a bunch of positives in last night's charts. You've got small pressure changes going on and you're not riding the upper pressure line all night. All of your events are while awake again- asleep AHI is zero. Another great night on the leaks. All very positive.
It seems to me that the sounds you hear from your snorelab app really really bother you. How do yo feel about removing that app from your phone so you can focus on your PAP therapy? Put it back later on?
If you didn't have aerophagia last night, I'd encourage you to stick with the current settings a couple more nights.
Stick with it. You're making progress.

Thank you - you are all so kind and encouraging. I think I was so freaked out by the noises which I'll try to attach 30 seconds of that I was sure changing things was going to look horrible on Oscar. Added to days and days of getting tireder and tireder though sleeping longer, I felt defeated and frustrated about what to do.djams wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 1:37 pmBarbara I'm sorry you had a bad night.bjhunt01 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 12:09 pmMade changes last night. To answer questions, I tried EPR at 2 after experimenting. Just thought it would help because I was raising the pressures. You know, I don't always know what I'm doing!!! I can do 3 tonight. Yes, I had aerophagia toward late morning that kept waking me up with bubble cheeks. Re: putting SnoreLab away, I've been using it to make sure I'm not snoring or gasping or having other problems I'm not aware of because I'm asleep. This is a good example. I had no idea this noise was going on most of the night.
Now that I have had coffee, food, read your posts, I don't feel so defeated. But the noises are scarey and I have no idea what caused them. They sound like a person in an iron lung that also squeaks like a siren on each breath. That can't be a good thing.
Well I got this message in trying to attach so guess not: Invalid file extension: SnoreLab 30 secs.mp3

Well, that's a very small change, (the minimum possible)... It's more likely that you just had a bad night... I'd recommend seeing if tonight is better.bjhunt01 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 5:08 pmI had raised my minimum from 6.8 to 7palerider wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 12:14 pmWhat were they before? Re: bjhunt01 therapy help thread
Still a small change. we all have bad nights from time to time... sometimes the happen right after you change something, and it's natural to blame that last change.... even though sometimes it's just a coincidence.

Just like so many other medical things, it varies, some people have a much simpler time than others,... some people have a lot of difficulty.bjhunt01 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 9:45 pmOK - thanks for the encouragement and normalizing. This isn't simple is it?
But, it's worth it. ... I'll cross my fingers that you'll have a better night tonight than last night, and I encourage you to stick with the same settings and see if things even out.
It's also entirely possible that because of the fact that you knew you changed things, you *expected* things to be more difficult... and ... self fulfilling prophesy. What we *expect* .... our mindset... has much more of an effect on us, many times, than we expect.

No I was little Sally Simply. I go into changes thinking, "THIS will be the one that does it!!!!" Well, if it's any consolation my settings are good, and I've got things set up well for myself... but I still have bad nights... thought not because my AHI is bad.. but there's other stuff that makes my sleep bad at times.
