Maybe a tiny bit--but I gain perspective here.

I try very hard to fight it. Honestly, the more I worry about sleep the worse my sleep is so I try to just chill. Also I avoid reading articles about sleep and health. I can quickly tilt into anxiety/insomnia so I have to tread very carefully and not trigger anything. There is no way I would ever track my sleep because it would totally destroy any chance of sleeping.

Goggle is my friend. Now that I know what it is, I can say I'm grateful my lifestyle allows me to not be too concerned if I don't sleep. Got all day to nap in the recliner to offset any sleep loss. Back in the days when my CPAP treatment wasn't yet optimized and my PLMD was at it's worst, I had to make peace with my messed up sleep or lose the rest of my mind. I was still working then and the awareness of time passing all night was so distressing as I counted the hours then minutes until the alarm would go off. At some point I resigned myself to laying down only to try to get a little rest. If sleep snuck up on me it was a pleasant bonus. That helped me cope better than having constant unmet expectations. I kept doing my best to provide an atmosphere conducive to sleep and trusting that someday it would come. Eventually it did. Because of how hellish my nights were for years, I'm pretty easy to please now. I have no expectation of sleeping through the night without waking, and consider any night with fewer than a half dozen wakeups a win.

In primitive societies, light sleepers would be valued,
as they would often warn of approaching predators.
