Smart card reader for REMStar Auto M-series w/ A-Flex

Post by tjgriffin » Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:41 am

I'm looking for a smart card reader for my old REMStar machine. Does anyone have one they'd be willing to part with? The thing is built like a tank and isn't going to die any time soon. My doctor no longer has the ability to read these older cards. I am considering getting a new machine, but this one is working as well as the day I got it, so I'd rather not.

Thanks!

In case no one has the card reader laying around for free
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... Reader-USB

What kind of computer do you have?
You will also need Encore Pro and it's Windows only...

Ask your doctor's assistant if they still have their old reader languishing in a cabinet. They might give it to you!! You won't know without asking.

Thanks! I saw that. It's not worth $80 for me. I have a windows machine. If I'm not mistaken, there are 3rd party apps for the reader, right?

Thanks again.

I am not sure what you mean by 3rd party apps.
There is an available software from Mako (who makes the Infineer) to make it work on whatever Windows a person has but I don't call them apps. I call it driver software.

Every now and then I see that reader on EBay for around $30 but it's never consistent...but you might look on EBay.

I don't blame you for not wanting to spend $80 on that reader but I thought I would at least let you know where it was available at.
There's not many of them around now...the M Series machine was discontinued almost 10 years ago and the M series machines were the last to use that reader. After the M series all the Respironics machines had regular SD cards.

Yeah, I guess I don't really know either, never having had one... I imagine a GUI that I can use to download the data, generate reports, etc.

I just put an offer in for one. We'll see.

Yeah... I'm seriously tempted by a new machine, small size, quiet, data access, phone apps, etc. But this thing is built to last. I've never had a problem with it, not even a little one. It shows not a single sign of ever dying. And it does what I need it to. If I can't get data off it, then I'll switch. Thanks for your help.
