Anyone have a occasional rough night?

Post by Diotima » Tue Jun 11, 2019 6:07 am

So last night I woke up with a jolt at around 3:00 a.m. gasping for breath even with my P10 mask on. Also it appears my mouth had opened up but I'm unsure if it was because I was having a rough time nose breathing. Ended up swapping my P30i in but over all when I got up a couple hours later for work I just felt horrible. Blearly eyed and fatigued. I think my nose got congested heavily as I slept for some reason but overall it was very discouraging. Anyone have a similar experience?

Sorry about your difficulty. Yes - Having a rough night is normal. Relax and you will sleep well tonight.

Yes....I think it's part of being human. Ever have a rough night before CPAP? Probably everyone has.

Yes...we all have rough nights when things just don't go well for any number of reasons.

And for me...if I was having nasal congestion issues that would guarantee a bad night because I simply don't sleep well at all if my nose is congested. I wouldn't even if I didn't have OSA in the mix. If I don't sleep good then I don't feel so great the next day.
Perhaps your nasal congestion affected your sleep quality more than you initially thought.

I'm thinking of whipping out my Sinex spray for those nights.

  I hear you.
On the rare nights that I anticipate nasal congestion issues because of congestion prior to bedtime...I whip out the old Afrin before I even go to bed. If I didn't I know I would have trouble even falling asleep. Most of the time I use Simply Saline before bedtime but on occasion I bring out the heavy guns.

If you are having a lot of congestion later on during the night after starting cpap then maybe the congestion is related to your humidity setting. You might be having some cpap rhinitis simply from your nasal mucosa not liking your current humidity setting.
You might need more or less humidity to keep the mucosa happy.

Right before cpap, I woke up every morning feeling as if I had endured an earnest beating all night.
After, I occasionally wake up feeling as though I had been cuddled a bit roughly.

That's a good idea. I had bumped up humidity one notch so maybe that's it.

oh,yes. i had exactly what happened to you happen to me, just a couple of weeks ago. as long as i was awake, went to the bathroom. came back still breathing raggedly. took a few very deep calming breaths(with mask on) and calmed down soon enough.

but it scares the &#$@ outta ya, don't it?
people say i'm self absorbed.

UPDATE!

So last night I woke up around 5 AM and my nostrils we're super congested not sure why but it was making breathing difficult. I ended up spraying the "heavy guns" Sinex Ultra Fine mist into both nostrils and within minutes they cleared up and I slept another 3 hours. But part of me wonders if making I just had a blocked seal and air wasnt being pumped into nostrils efficiently. I had swapped to small pillows for my P10 the past couple nights.
