Tapatalk

Post by CapnLoki » Mon Jun 10, 2019 8:46 am

I used to use Tapatalk for reading CpapTalk on my phone/tablet but some months back it stopped working. In particular it could see some items but not any subforums. Since all of our posts are in one large subforum, I can't see the normal list of posts so the program is rather useless for me. I have seen a few posts tagged as "posted from Tapatalk" but I'm guessing these threads were accessed as "trending" and not from the general list.

I wonder if some tag got lost when the forum was reorganized last year. (or was that the year before?) Is anyone able to see the full functionality of Tapatalk?

I also can't see the full list of topics, or my subscribed topics, but I still get notification of new posts, having already had that subscription, so I hadn't noticed the issue.

I first tried to get to cpaptalk.com through Tapatalk but could never get any topics to load so I resorted to finding it through the web browser.

When they changed software some number of months ago, the Tapatalk extensions didn't work. They were alerted, acknowledged it, but I don't think they explored it any further. I used Tapatalk to read the forum sometimes, but really don't miss it, especially with the privacy concerns associated with that app.

The mobile version of the site seems to work pretty well, give it a shot.

Yes, I use the mobile site - it works fine except that the fonts are rather small.

So who is the "they" that were notified - Pugsy, the Goodman's, or Tapatalk?

Would do no good to tell me that Tapatalk isn't working properly.
Number one I don't use it at all.
Number two even if I did use it I don't have access to any of the behind the scenes software stuff at all. I have some limited powers as moderator but access to any of the behind the scenes forum software stuff isn't included and I wouldn't have any idea how to fix a software problem anyway.
All I could do if someone notified me would be to tell them to notify Carolyn.
I have no idea what you guys are talking about   I wouldn't even know how to explain your problem to Carolyn for me to report it to her.

Tapatalk is an alternate way to view forums such as cpaptalk, designed for use on cell phones/tablets. To function it needs some minor changes in the forum setup - cpaptalk used to work fine, but now is only partly functional. This works for some, but for me its actually an annoyance because tapatalk responds with a banner when I use the mobile app.

This was talked about a year ago with the upgrade but apparently nothing came of it. Is bendauphinee still on the support staff? - his "we're looking into it" post was one of his last.

I don't know...send him a PM and ask him. He would be the person that has the ability to fix the issue if he is still on the IT team.

When forum software was less user-friendly, Tapatalk had a significant role to play in forums and it was worth keeping forums compatible with it. These days, I think the consensus is that it is more important to keep the forum itself mobile-friendly without the work of keeping things compatible with forum readers.

Then again, I usually have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to technology, and no amount of forum formatting can fix that.

I still miss Lotus SmartSuite.

If you just follow one or two forums, using mobile sites may be just as good as using Tapatalk, but if you follow several, Tapatalk makes a huge difference. Hopefully it can get worked out

ME TOO. I keep hoping Excel would implement the old xindex function but it's never gonna happen.
