shorter nickname for "Oxygen Concentrator"
Since "Oxygen Concentrator" is an unwieldy 7 syllables, I made up a term for 'em:
Ox box.
Ox box.

Got on CPAP 2015, AHI 147. Much better now. Have central & obstructive apnea. Smoked 30 years, quit when got on O2 & CPAP. I'm not on O2 during day anymore, only when I sleep, into CPAP machine. Ahhhh....oxygen! Refreshing!

Re: shorter nickname for "Oxygen Concentrator"
It is surprising how much that name is already used.

Re: shorter nickname for "Oxygen Concentrator"
I believe the bigger ones are usually just "OC" (oh-see) and the portable ones are "POC" (pee-oh-see). But, hey, "ox box" works for me, too.

Put a XPAP mask and tubing on it, and you have the shipping carton for it. Jim

Re: shorter nickname for "Oxygen Concentrator"
Having both a concentrator and refillable tanks is the ideal situation.
Either can freeze up and stop working at any time--a backup can be life-saving,
---especially during a power outage.
Unfortunately, most insurance will cover one, but not the other.
Like diabetics, your continued health is not a priority.

Re: shorter nickname for "Oxygen Concentrator"
When I was prescribed oxygen at night, they brought in a concentrator and a tank of oxygen at the same time. They put the tank next to my bed since I needed it at night. This way I had a back up if the power failed.
