Mask malfunction.

Post by 4847henton » Tue May 28, 2019 6:49 pm

Help
I have a RESMED AirSense 10 and when I have the mask on AND inhale it seems like the cushion collapses inward'

The sound is like" FLOP" as the plastic collapses. This thing is supposed to detect the correct air setting automatically.

I don't know what is wrong. Should I call Resmed?

I don't want to get A-FIB again so appreciate the help.
Thanks.

"Resmed airsense 10" what? there are several different machines that start with that name.

What mask?

We need details.

Masks will normally *inflate* a bit whenever you inhale, because the pressure can *increase* during inhalation.

What does that mean?

I can think of two things to check.

Make sure the air intake is not blocked or clogged somehow. Awhile back, my mom's machine lost the filter cover, and thus the filter. Dog hair got sucked into the machine, and the air flow sounded like it was stopping and starting. I wasn't wearing the mask, so I don't know what it felt like, but it sounded really odd.

Another possibility. If this is a full face mask, check the anti-asphyxiation vavle to make sure it is openingand closing okay. When the machine is blowing air, the flap should be closed. When the air flow is off, the valveshould be open. It can make a flapping nose if the air flow is not consistent.

More info with actual machine model (and settings) along with mask type should get more responses.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

It sounds like the problem is with the MASK.
Since you have not shared ANY info about the mask, I cannot help.
Why?
We really would like to help.
And could, with enough information.
