Bloating

Post by marshka » Tue Mar 08, 2005 11:37 am

Hi, all I am a new user and I have a Breeze, I believe mask. It fits snug into my nostrils. Well I have been getting very bloated at night and want to know if there is any way to handle this. My doctor has already lowered the pressure and I really don't want to resort to surgery but I can see how this problem is affecting my life. i've lost 10 lbs and I am 6ft 5in tall?

What is your current pressure?

Are you using a fixed pressure cpap or an auto-adjusting cpap?

You can try elevating the head of your bed to let gravity help you minimize the aerophagia (bloating).

Also do you drink carbonated beverages in the evening?

I tried that but I think I need a steeper angle, my CPAP has a ramp feature and that is what I use, I can go for about 1.5 hours before I feel like I am going to pop. My current pressure is 14 down from 17.

I don't drink pop after 3 p.m. because when I do I turn into a balloon during the night.

I would really recommend not drinking any carbonated drinks after 3 p.m. You will be much more comfortable. It is the only time I ended up being bloated. My pressure is somewhere around 12.

What type of mask do you use? Is it a noase seal or one that goes in your nostrils?

I, personally, have tried the Swift, Breeze, Mirage Ultra and now am very happy with the Activa.
