This is my take: If you're using one and it works, keep using that. Most recently, I installed Sleepyhead. I had problems using it and then installed Oscar. It worked. It's too bad that there turned out to be nasty dispute over the programs. But its nice that there are two good programs, both free.

The problem with using SleepyHead is, it is no longer being maintained. You are potentially one Automatic Update away from it no longer working.

Then, you have to scramble and convert you data.

OSCAR has fixed numerous existing bugs, has expanded the machine base it's compatible with and has an extremely responsive support person who regularly posts here. (BlueDragon)

There was never a dispute between SleepyHead and OSCAR, there was a dispute regarding the release of SleepyHead v1.1.0 Beta. It was because of the dispute that OSCAR was formed, not the other way around.

There was no dispute at all over the programs.

The creator of Sleepyhead decided that his most trusted people, that had helped him for years, were out to get him (they weren't), and he killed the project dead.

Fortunately, the source code was open source, and so people that had worked on sleepyhead for years forked the program, and created Oscar *AFTER* SleepyHead was killed.
