Mirage FX noisey vents

Post by Mikail » Sun Apr 28, 2019 7:03 am

Hi

This is all very new to me.
I have the Mirage FX in combination with the AirSense 10
I first thought it had leaks between elbow and mask entrance.

It's the vents that are noisey + they blow in my face all night.
WORST night ever, and I'm not using it anymore at the moment.

Way too noisey, it's a shame, because the cushion around the nose is very good and comfortable.
Why didn't they invest more in quieter vents?
Or am I being a difficult person?

Can someone advice very very very very quiet (nasal/face) masks?

Thanks!
Regards

Mikail

The Mirage FX is not known as being a noisy mask. Also, the vents are positioned so they do not blow in the face of the user.

Is the vented air bouncing off a pillow, the bed sheets or the CPAP hose and coming back into your face?

Possibly. Or maybe, you have misdiagnosed the problem. What's your leak rate?

The vents are the Carbon dioxide from your exhaled breath and excess air. They blow out ..away from your face. But, as Granny indicated, it can bounce off blankets and pillows and make it appear that it is blowing in your face.

There are nasal masks available that diffuse the vented air so that it isn't noisy and doesn't bounce back into a person's face.
Some nasal cushion type of masks like the Mirage FX and some nasal pillow type of masks...
Maybe change masks????? Then it can't bounce off anything and hit you in your face and be noisy.

What??? you can't read my mind?
Brain fart from an old woman. Mind saw one thing to type and fingers went off totally on their own.
I meant....there are some nasal cushion masks like the Mirage FX (if that is what someone likes) do have diffused venting.
So I guess I wasn't clear.
If someone likes the Mirage FX except for the venting...there are similar masks available that offer diffused venting.

Hi

The feeling of air blowing was indeed due the sheets.
However the sound keeps me awake.
I think i need to get used to this.

The machine indicates no leaks and good pressure.

When my mouth opens during sleep, i wake up due the pressure loss via the mouth.

Also getting used to? Of would a full face Mask be better?
Are those quieter?

My hubby says he sleeps better when my head is under the sheets, because it mutes the sound for him. It makes it twice as loud for me.

There are several ways to stop mouth leaks. Full face mask is one. You can also use a chinstrap, a foam cervical collar, mouth taping, or Zonker's scuunci technique.

for some reason, when i read this, i was picturing your hubby holding a pillow over your head, not sure why?

and i'm popping in to say, NOT my scunci method, credit goes to forum member jay aitchsee. i just brashly go around telling folks about it.

Wow, guys thanks for your inputs!

I'm going to try with ear plugs, plus im sleeping in another bed than my gf for now, till i get used to this.

If this doesnt work, ill try a full face mask.

I Cant do this.
I'm littery shaking of frustration of the NOISE of the vents.
How can anyone sleep with this??

I have a lot more of sleep deppravation than i had before.
Ive tried this for 2 weeks, some nights without because i was too tired.
Can someone please share some superquiet masks?

If none exist, i need to return this cpap thing asap.
I felt more rested without than with :(

Several masks have diffused venting making them essentially silent.

F & P has the ESON and the Brevida and Pilairo Q
ResMed has the P10, N30i and P30i

Go check them out here

Thanks, I'll look into it.

I have a ResMed Airsense 10, I'm presuming that the hose diameters is 1 standard.
So all masks fit?

Yes, pretty much all masks will fit all hoses and be compatible with all machines with the exception of some of the tiny travel cpap stuff.
