Airfit N20 problems....

Post by joeljjk11 » Wed Apr 24, 2019 9:09 am

I had used the N10 very briefly years ago but had to stop because it irritated the bridge of my nose and left sores.

I ordered the N20 recently after using nasal pillows and FFM for years and after two days of use the bridge of my nose is sore and was bleeding this morning. the thing is that I want to use a nasal mask because my AHI numbers are always lower with them for some reason and I find them comfortable. I ordered a large size pillow and I am hoping this fixes the irritation issue as I have been using the medium size. Am I doing something wrong? Does this happen to everyone who uses a nasal mask, it seems crazy. And can anyone suggest a nasal mask that does not irritate the bridge of the nose? I know there are the gel cushioned ones like the mirage by Resmed, and I am wondering if I would have good luck with that.

Sorry I did not mean bridge of my nose. I got confused with that, it is really under my nostrils that always bleeds and gets real sore. Maybe this could be from using the pillow that is too small?

When I started using the p10 pillows, I got sores under my nostrils, I put some Lansinoh Lanolin on them, after a few days they callused up. Hasn't been a problem since.

A lot of people have problems because of undersized nasal pillows, try a size bigger.

Meant to say cushion - the N20 is a nasal mask, got some lanolin cream at target and I am hoping it heals up the sores. Thanks.

I use the N20 it does not irritate my nose the only time I have problems is when my glasses sometimes leave a sore then the mask hits it at night. I have a backup dreamwear I use on those days. I switched to a small cushion from a medium. It really cut down on the air leaks around the eyes.

Do you think I simply have had the bottom straps too tight?

I followed a link someone posted on here about mask fitting and one of the tips for getting a good mask fit is to not have the straps really tight. My top straps are slightly more tight than the bottom ones but they are loose enough to not dig into my face and to get a finger under. It took me a while to figure out what was too loose or tight. Just play around with it, try and see if looser straps help. :)
