If you keep uploading data to a previously saved patient file, you can build up days of graph charts for a longer period than the last 4 days. Follow me?
Ok, I've been tracking my compliance for two weeks. Tonight when I uploaded data to my two week old file, the data was missing this past Saturday - only one day ago.
However, if I open a new patient file and upload the data, Sat is there.
Has anyone else seen the software drop a day when you upload to a week+ old file?
Suggestions? I wish you could merge two files. The export file did not work.

One way this could happen is if you downloaded data from your machine to your card after 12 noon on Saturday, then downloaded to your computer. After 12 noon, your CPAP kicks over to a new day; if you load the data to your card, that day will be blank. Once you load it into Autoscan, that day will be a blank, unless you overwrite. If you overwrite, then all of your (more detailed) nightly data except for the last 5 days will be lost.
No way I know of to merge the two files within Autoscan. You could export data, play with it manually in a spreadsheet, and merge it in that way. Loading your data to the card before noon (but 8 minutes or more after turning the machine off) at least every 5 days and loading it to your computer before the next machine download is the best way to have continuous nightly data.
For the export file, take it to a directory, name it, and it should be saved as a .CSV file. This can be opened in a spreadsheet (I use openoffice,) and the data will be displayed.

Hi Rich,
Sounds like Jim's nailed it to me. It happens. Once you've gone on you've just got to wear it. I save a copy of that days data in a backup file just in case I need it for some reason, but my main patient file won't show that day.

Hmmmm. I've been downloading daily from my Resmed S8 Elite and I've only twice lost a night's data since 08 Oct 2006. Fortunately, I had checked the data via the LED screen and written it down. I manually typed it into AutoScan's Patient Notes so I still have it. One of those days I know I didn't download until after noon. That was when I learned I had to download before noon.
One thing I did do just the other day: I took a 2 hour nap in the afternoon and out of curiosity, because I wanted to see the "Nightly Data" in graph form for that nap, I downloaded the data. I saved that Nightly Data graph for that nap. Late the following morning, but well before noon, I downloaded the data for the night - but the only data that downloaded was that same 2 hour nap! The combined nap and night's data was available via the LED screen before noon, but no way was it downloading more than the nap into AutoScan! I have no idea what "kink" causes that.
Now, there was a 26 day break in usage when I had that RemStar Auto on loan.
So my usage has been: 09 Oct thru 12 Dec (one "lost" day 18 Nov).
08 Jan thru 18 Feb (one "lost" day 07 Feb).
My 18 Nov Notes: Sat - 18 Nov 06 - Pressure 5.8 - Leak 0.94 - AHI 9.5 - AI 0.4 - HI 9.1 - Used 00234 hrs - Usage 0041/0041 nts - Day 6.17 hrs [*How come this night's data is missing?]
My 07 Feb Notes: Thu 07 Dec 06 - Pressure 6.4 - Leak 0.44 - AHI 6.2 - AI 0.8 - HI 5.4 - Used 344 hrs - Usage 60 nts - Day 5.54 hrs
The one that floored me for quite some time was when I occasionally got a blue outline rather than a filled in blue bar in the Usage screen. It was quite a while before I found out that occurs when we download too soon after finishing sleeping for the night. Usually I am up before my husband and so don't download until after he's up and the bed is made. Once in a blue moon he is up before me and I've downloaded shortly after getting up. Those were the days of the blue outline but not filled in boxes. AND my 2 hour nap yesterday w/no data for the night.

Ha! I just made a NewPatient file and tried downloading last night's data.
Guess what? Yer right, Rich! There's that 2 hour nap AND the night's data!!! And both are filled in blue bars.
Interesting kink. Too bad Resmed won't discuss their software w/patients, it would be interesting to know what they make of it or how they can explain it or at least their thoughts on what might be causing this.
H*ll, if they talked to us maybe they would learn something and could revise and improve the software to eliminate these kinks.

Hi Slinky,
Once you've done that you can't incorporate that data into your main patient file with the one continuous block of detailed data. We just have to be patient and wait until the next day.

Jim - you misunderstand.
When I upload the data to an old file Sat Feb 17 is not there.
When I open a new patient file and upload data, Sat Feb 17 is there.
NAP TIMES:
the machine records all sleep sessions - anytime it is turned on. You should see the session from when I was fitting my OptiLife mask. The pressure and leak graphs look like a seismograph recording an hour of massive earthquakes in San Francisco!

Hypothetical situation here: You download data to your card after 12:00 noon on Sat Feb 17. You then load it onto your computer. The data from Fri Feb 16 shows up in your Autoscan; however, there is a blank spot on the card for Sat Feb 17, as the xPAP considers this to be a new day. That blank spot is now also 'embedded' in your Autoscan file. You then load data from the card again; on the card, the previously blank Saturday is overwritten with the data from Saturday night.Rich-CMH wrote:Jim - you misunderstand.

When you load the data from the card into your computer using your previously established file, the blank spot for Saturday Feb 17 remains, because the software does not overwrite the old data, even though it is a blank.
When you open a new file and load the data from the card into it, Sat Feb 17 shows up because there is no 'blank' already filled in for that day. The data was on the card in both instances, but the program would not replace the blank with the actual data in your old file.
If you had chosen the overwrite option, other nightly graph data from earlier nights would have been lost in your old file, but Sat Feb 17 would have shown up.
While I pose this example as hypothetical, it is what I anticipate has happened. I myself have a file with a blank Sunday in it for this reason. If this is not what happened for you, then I really have no idea why this occurred.

My head must be clearing, tho my right snozz and sinus don't agree, 'cause I can actually grasp what you are saying, Jim. And scariest of all, it makes sense to me!!!

Well, at least my Elite and AutoScan require a 1/2 hour wait to avoid the empty bar outlined in blue.
Interesting tho: I mentioned what a bad night I had Monday nite. I waited a 1/2 hour before downloading yesterday. Maybe a very few minutes shy or just over a 1/2 hour. And the bar for that final "sleep session" of the night is PARTIALLY filled in and partially outlined by empty. All the same bar. The other bars for that night for my earlier "sleep sessions" are all filled in in blue, of course.
Interesting too: that darn SmartStart. I had a good "middle" sleep session last night, about 4 1/2 hours worth by some miracle and only one apnea of very short duration and all hypopneas 15 seconds or less in duration. But then I couldn't sleep for about 2 hours or so. When I finally felt like I could sleep again and went in to the bedroom that darn Elite was blowing away like crazy. And I HAD pushed the button to turn it off and it HAD turned off! Either SmartStart "ain't" so smart or there was a ghostie busy playing tricks last night.
Anyway, in that third and last "sleep session" for last night lasting about an hour and 3/4 I had one LONG apnea over 90 seconds and one apnea of about 20 seconds, all hypopneas were of 15 seconds or less duration. I can't help but wonder if that one LONG, off the chart apnea, was when the darn SmartStart had turned on and was running when I went to bed or if I really did have an apnea that long? Unfortunately, I didn't pay any attention to the time when I went back to bed and found the Elite blowing air into the night so have no idea. EXCEPT I have "never" had an apnea of anywhere near such long duration. Not even when I've resorted to taking an Ambien.
Anyway, last's AHI was 6.3, AI was 0.4 and HI was 5.9 and Time In Apnea was 0.3% out of 6.59 hours of sleep (that includes the 1 hour afternoon nap as the first session).
Heck, I feel relatively decent this morning for a change. Maybe it was due to the "heat spell" we experienced yesterday in MI after 23 straight days of freezing temps or below or maybe it was the first Avalox I took yesterday. Who knows? Snozz and sinus aren't content, but they are a whole lot happier than they have been!!!!
