Long time VPAP user, new forum member.
I've been using my Resmed VPAP Auto 25 for about 10 years. It probably saved my life.
However, like all things, it has eventually broken. It has a bad air flow sensor, so it won't work at all. The unit was discontinued right after it was sold to me (thanks, doc).
Sleep Medicine Associates, here in Evansville, IN is the place where I did my sleep study a decade ago. But now they refuse to sell me a newer model, unless I undergo another sleep study to prove the obvious...that I still have sleep apnea. They'd rather I suffer a downward spiral, rather than only make the money off of selling me a new machine. I no longer have health insurance, so I'm pretty much toast. I can't afford the additional couple grand for them just to affirm what they already have proof of in their files.
I've even tried to get the thing apart to fix it myself. I'm good at working on electronics, but the thing looks like it was put together with a type of screw that makes it impossible to take apart without ruining it.
Any suggestions on where I could get a new one? Wouldn't SMA have to give them my prescription that they themselves used?
Or maybe someone else can fix it?
I'm not ready to go back to never dreaming, morning nystagmus, falling asleep at the wheel, etc. It won't be long.

Send a PM to forum member LSAT. He frequently has machines for sell at very reasonable prices.

Re: Need Suggestions
Any Dr. or Dentist can write a prescription for a cpap... see your GP.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!
